Winter Meetings Coverage: San Diego Padres Trading Kevin Kouzmanoff to Bay Area?

The morning of day two of baseball's winter meetings has been quiet for the San Diego Padres.

There had been news that the Padres were possibly looking to deal Heath Bell , but there has been no further developments since it came out.

Now news comes out that the Padres are possibly talking to the San Francisco Giants about possibly sending third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff to the Bay Area.

USA Today's Bob Nightengale, via Twitter , says the Padres and Giants have had discussions about the third baseman, but that San Diego wants more than outfielder Fred Lews and infielder Kevin Frandsen in return.

La Velle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune says the Padres wanted to talk to the Minnesota Twins about a possible deal involving Kouzmanoff. Neal says the Padres might be interested in Glen Perkins, who could be available now that pitcher Carl Pavano has decided to accept arbitration from the Twins.

Former Padres' outfielder Brian Giles, according to WEEI's Alex Speier , has gotten interest from five or six different teams, but the Red Sox were not among those. Not surprising seeing as Giles vetoed a trade to Boston a few years ago.

Another former Padre, Randy Wolf, was reportedly offered a three year, $31 million deal from the Milwaukee Brewers according to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal . There's been no word that Wolf has signed that deal, but there was interest in Wolf from both the Dodgers and the Mets but both have fallen off the radar.
