The Yankees Are Going To The World Series: Who Cares?

Who cares the Yankees are going to the World Series!

They are supposed to go to the World Series.

They signed the best two starting pitchers in the off-season, and they signed the best hitter to what was already the highest paid team.

Alex Rodriguez and C.C. Sabathia combined made more than the whole team of the Pirates, Padres and Marlins.

The Yankees ' team payroll (201 mil) is more than the Twins (65 mill), Mariners (98 mill) and Marlins (37 mill) COMBINED.

In their own division:

Yankees - 201 mill
Red Sox - 123 mill
Blue Jays - 81 mill
Orioles - 67 mill
Rays - 63 mill

That's not equal.  That's not even close to fair for the fans of the Blue Jays, Orioles and Rays.

The Yankees have $78 million more than the Red Sox!  That's almost four 20-million dollar players!!!!  Or if you want to go REAL contract numbers, that's Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira and CC Sabathia.

How are the Red Sox supposed to compete with that?  Just forget about the Blue Jays, Orioles or Rays.  They might get in there one year, but not consistently.

The Yankees have a HUGE advantage over every team, and except for last year, which they competed, they make the playoffs EVERY YEAR.

This is not the baseball I fell in love with.  I fell in love with the 1987 Minnesota Twins .  I fell in love with Kirk Gibson coming off the bench and hitting a HR.  I fell in love with that kind of baseball magic .

There could be magic in baseball if it weren't for the evil empire .

There are teams like the Royals, Cleveland, Orioles, Blue Jays, Mariners and others that would like to just get to the playoffs and have a chance.

Their fans have been through enough losing seasons.  They deserve at least a chance.

Sure, those teams could do what the Twins have and build up a good team through the draft and develop players.  Then they MAY have one or two good seasons where they make the playoffs.  A couple years of that and the Yankees will take their best players.

It's not right.  That's not what baseball should be.

The Minnesota Twins lost Johan Santana because there was no cap.  The Milwaukee Brewers lost CC Sabathia because there is no salary cap.   There are many examples of this.  Smaller market teams can develop or trade for good players, but they can't keep them for very long.

Every fan of every team in the league that isn't on Boston, LA, or a NY team has to worry about losing their best player every year.

It's ridiculous !

Why is there no salary cap in baseball?

Major League Baseball officials WANT the Yankees in the World Series every year.  They want the money the Yankees draw.

The Yankees and their fans should not be excited they made the World Series.  They should be embarrassed they paid so much for it.

The Yankees are in the World Series....

I'M NOT WATCHING IT. THEY BOUGHT IT.

A side note:
What does Roger Clemens , Alex Rodriguez , Jason Giambi , Andy Pettitte , Jose Canseco , and Jason Grimsley all have in common?

They all played for the Yankees and they all have been....

You know the answer and you can complete that sentence.
