Yankees Fans Not Satisfied with 6-1 Start to the Playoffs

I had the chance to attend Game 2 of the ALCS this past weekend, in which the Yankees took on the Angels.

First off, let me say it was the most exciting game I have ever gone to.

Sitting in Section 202 of the bleachers, I had a great view of the game, and an even better scent of all the drunk fans around me.

Better yet was the atmosphere.

There were many ups and downs to the game. Many fans booed when Joba was taken out, and even more when Damaso Marte was brought in (I booed the loudest).

But that really didn't matter.

What mattered to me and all Yankee fans is that the Yankees won the game, in a rather dramatic fashion.

But is that really enough for Yankees fans?

Unfortunately, it appears not.

As me and my dad were pulling out of the mobbed Yankee parking lot, we turned on WFAN, and were shocked to hear all of the angry Yankee fans.

People saying things like, (and this isn't an exact quote) "Why didn't Girardi put [Freddy] Guzman in to pinch run? What an awful manager."

There are many writers on b/r and all around the world (especially Goon) who routinely get on Yankee fans for being arrogant and stuck up about producing winning teams.

And I'm not going to try to argue the fact that most Yankee fans (myself excluded) expect the team to win. (You can find my take on that view here .)

Well Yankee fans, you keep on proving people like Goon right.

It is absolutely preposterous to, after winning a playoff game in 13 innings, complain about your team.

It's an ethical rule just as much it is a fan policy.

Look at the New England Patriots. Week One of the season, they nearly lost to the lowly Buffalo Bills and look what happened, they came back and won.

Now tell me, were any Patriots fans calling up and talking about three quarters of mediocre play?

No. In fact, they were praising coach Belichick and Tom Brady for the one amazing quarter.

If only Yankees fans had some logic...
