Jamie McCourt: Judge Throws Out Marital Property Agreement, Dodgers Half Jamie's

Jamie McCourt, the ex-wife of Dodgers owner Frank McCourt, was awarded half-ownership of the Los Angeles Dodgers Tuesday when the judge presiding over their divorce threw out the marital property agreement that kept the team solely in Frank's possession.

The judge found that the contract, signed before the couple married, was either invalid or unenforceable, and must therefore be set aside.

Not Worth It? Examining Baseball's $100 Million Dollar Men

Jayson Werth's 7 year/$126 million contract has done many things to the baseball world—shocked it, confused it, angered it, and mocked it.

These types of contracts usually haven't caused players to live up to the ridiculous amount of money that they are paid.

Here's who has and hasn't lived up to the massive cash.

Fantasy Baseball '11 Projection: Will Andre Ethier Be An Elite Outfielder In '11

After exploding in 2009 with 31 HR and 106 RBI, fantasy owners were clamoring about what Andre Ethier could be in 2010.  Could he emerge as one of the elite outfielders in the game?  Forget about just outfielders, could he emerge as one of the elite hitters in the game?  The fact is that the question owners should have been asking was if he could even repeat that success.  The answer would have been no (though there’s an asterisk), as Ethier posted the following line:

MLB Power Rankings: Who's on Top After Adrian Gonzalez, Jayson Werth Signings?

Only one day into baseball's winter meetings, there have already been many major deals. Adrian Gonzalez is now a member of the Boston Red Sox, Mark Reynolds is on the Orioles and Shaun Marcum is a Milwaukee Brewer, among others.

As the winter meetings continue to heat up, many of the marquee free agents remain unsigned, namely Cliff Lee and Carl Crawford, so free agency is going to continue to make its mark this offseason. Teams will keep dealing to either get the piece they need for a title or to continue their rebuilding process.

MLB Winter Meetings: 5 Things on the LA Dodgers' Agenda This Week

The MLB winter meetings will take place this week in Florida, and the Los Angeles Dodgers have a lot of work to do. Despite a flurry of moves that brought Juan Uribe, Jon Garland and Rod Barajas to LA, the Dodgers have holes to fill in left field and in the bullpen. They also need to address the somewhat unsteady production they got from first baseman James Loney and center fielder Matt Kemp in 2010.

MLB Trade Rumors: 10 NL West Deals That Could Go Down for 2011

The NL West has been very active in the early stages of the MLB offseason. Juan Uribe is a Dodger, Miguel Tejada is a Giant, Adrian Gonzalez is playing in Boston and Mark Reynolds has left the Diamondbacks for Baltimore.

With all the rumors of which players are being targeted by which teams becoming more clear, it's safe to say that the NL West is far from being solidified.

Let us take a look at trades that are either being conjured, and some that are merely rumors in the swirling MLB offseason.

New York Mets: Can They Do a Lot With a Little?

We've all heard the reports that say the Mets only have $5 million to spend this offseason. I don't know who said it or their source, but it does make sense since the team has over $130 million committed to its current club.

Regardless of the actual figure, there's no doubt that the Mets are cash-strapped.

MLB Trade Rumors: Five Deals Being Discussed On The Floor Of The Winter Meetings

Lake Buena Vista, FL. (2:35 PM): With the Jayson Werth deal being signed, sealed and delivered, and the Adrian Gonzalez trade done with the extension to be announced later, the entire baseball world is wondering where Cliff Lee will sign.

Lee's agent Darek Braunecker today met with the various teams interested in Lee. Braunecker met with New York Yankee and Texas Ranger officials. There was even talk the Boston Red Sox met briefly with Lee's agent, probably just to keep tabs on what the Yankees are up to.

MLB Trade Rumors: Prince Fielder and Latest from MLB Winter Meetings

MLB trade rumors continue to swirl with the Winter Meetings underway in Orlando.

After the Red Sox acquired Adrian Gonzalez from the Padres, it appears another slugging first baseman could be on the move.

ESPN's Buster Olney is reporting that the Dodgers are in talks with the Brewers about possibly acquiring Prince Fielder.

The deal would come as a surprise for L.A. since the Dodgers franchise is not believed to be in spending mode this winter.

MLB Trade Rumors: Dodgers Close to Acquiring Prince Fielder from Brewers?

On the first day of the Winter Meetings, a very interesting rumor is being reported by multiple sources—the Los Angeles Dodgers are discussing a possible trade which would send first baseman James Loney and closer Jonathan Broxton to Milwaukee for first baseman Prince Fielder.

This would be yet another move by a Dodger team that is quickly establishing themselves as a favorite in the NL West.
