Alex Rodriguez Leaves Famed Baseball Agent Scott Boras

Alex Rodriguez has left the man who negotiated his 10-year, $275 million contract.

Rodriguez is not expected to replace Scott Boras with Pittsburgh attorney Jay Reisinger and Washington lawyer Jim Sharp, who helped him with his legal affairs.

Reisinger was the one who negotiated Rodriguez's ordeal with Congress for performance-enhancing drugs. Reisinger also represented Sammy Sosa and Andy Pettitte in their trials.

Aroldis Chapman's Heaters Put Reds Above Radar Come Fall

The radar-gun indicated a wicked, nasty fastball, akin to a 100 mph car pursuit on the 5 Freeway to commute from Santa Monica to Orange County.

That is, only if you are a local resident and pay your property taxes here in Southern California.

But in another town, such as Cincinnati, the speed and heat is relevant to the Reds’ hitless reliever Aroldis Chapman, a flame throwing Cuban star on the rise when Cincinnati is contending for a postseason berth.

Red Sox Roster Moves: Boston Releases Outfielder Jeremy Hermida

The Boston Red Sox have released journeyman outfielder Jeremy Hermida, according to Sean McAdam of CSNNE.com. As much as Hermida expressed surprise when he was designated for assignment at the end of July, surely his outright release yesterday could be considered a shock.

Hermida's release was confirmed late last night via an online announcement on RedSox.com.

Decision 2011: How Much Is Derek Jeter Worth?

This winter Derek Jeter will be paid a lot of money by the New York Yankees.

The New York Yankees are a team that promotes their history better than any franchise in sports today.  Jeter is the living embodiment of the team's return to glory.  That makes his value unique to the Yankees, but not to the rest of baseball.

He will make more money than any other shortstop in baseball in 2011 (and a few years thereafter) and by a significant margin.  This is undeniable.  There is no chance that Jeter or the New York Yankees end in divorce.

Javier Vazquez Back Into the Yankees Starting Rotation...But Why?

Back in 2007, the Yankees had a starting pitcher in the minors who blew through several levels of play. He regularly hit the gun at 95-97 MPH, even as late as the seventh inning in one game for the Trenton Thunder.

He was good starting pitching prospect, but the Yankees needed his power arm in their bullpen. So Joba Chamberlain was in the bullpen for the 2007 post season.

He was tried as a starting pitcher and despite not being Wes Ferrell right off the bat, he still did well considering he was restricted in more ways that Stephen Strasburg laughs at him.

Entering the Stretch Run, No More Excuses for the Philadelphia Phillies

I am happy to say that I may have been wrong in writing off the Phillies.

Brooklyn Cyclones: The Other Winning Team in New York

Well, Mets fans, we have endured another very difficult season watching our favorite team struggle night-in and night-out. Last night, the team saw their 2-1 lead be shattered by a seven-run Braves fifth inning, highlighted by Luis Castillo's error on a routine double play ball.

Fantasy Baseball Free Agent Pool: 2010 Speed Demons, Vol. 10 (Sept. 1)

Just because you’ve slipped behind in the Stolen Base category doesn’t mean you can’t catch up. Here are some reasonably available SB threats.

Eric Young, Jr., 2B/OF, Colorado Rockies

Young had seven stolen bases in the past 15 days while hitting .246 with eight runs. On the year he’s hitting .245 with 12 SBs, 17 runs, and three RBI in 98 ABs. Eric is owned in 25 percent of CBS and 10 percent of ESPN leagues.

Texas Rangers: Five Reasons Cliff Lee Will Not Help Them in the Playoffs

When the Texas Rangers slipped in and made the deal for left-hander Cliff Lee, stealing him right out from under the New York Yankees, Ranger fans and players couldn't have been more excited.

They were getting a guy that was a proven winner not only during the season, but also in the playoffs.

However, that's not what they've gotten. Through 11 starts, Lee is 2-5 with a 4.69 ERA and has been nothing short of awful over his last five starts, giving up a combined 25 runs in those starts.
