New York Yankees: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

One of the best Clint Eastwood movies from his Western days was "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly." Fantastic. Rent it if you have not seen it. In fact, get a bunch of Clint movies one rainy day and park yourself on the couch.

This movie title is going to be the same as this Yankee theme. It will be a bi-weekly segment on the most recent Yankee two week stretch of games.

Rumors Swirl of Mark Teixeira Testing Positive for PED

Yesterday there were rumors flying that Mark Teixeira could be the next big name baseball player to be suspended due to performance enhancing drugs. Major League Baseball then made the announcement that it was not Teixeira, but Edinson Volquez of the Reds, that failed a drug test.

A sigh of relief was taken by the New York Yankees organization and fans.

Which New York Yankees Team Was Truly Better: 1998 or 2010?

Hello all! Wow, it has been a while since I've last written, so this may be quite long, because I have a lot to say!

The truth of why I'm writing today is to get my mind off the loss of my dog this morning. She was 10, and she will be deeply missed.

I'm seeking refuge in the New York Yankees, who have gotten off to a great start to the season here in 2010, picking up where they left off back in November. There is something about this team that just jumps out at you. Something that gives me the feeling of invincibility. It is a great feeling.

Pittsburgh Pirates: "Calling Jeff Karstens"

That's what the Pirates might be doing. But they aren't.

Only a few pieces ago, I opined that Dan McCutchen, the Pirates' latest fifth starter, could enjoy accelerated promotion because of injury, failure or trade, of higher ranking pitchers.

He in fact, did, as a result of Ross Ohlendorf's injury. Having been moved into Ohlendorf's spot, he is now effectively "second" starter, even though he isn't yet of that quality.

Numbers Don't Lie: Tribe Hitters Shockingly Bad

We realize the season is just two weeks old, but one can't help but imagine what kind of start the Indians would be off to if they had managed any hitting at all to this point.

The casual observer may realize the Tribe offense has been poor, but just how poor is pretty unbelievable.

As a team, the Indians are dead last in baseball, hitting a pathetic, embarrassing .214 on the year.

2010 Fantasy Baseball: Week Two Major Slump Report

It’s the end of the second week of the 2010 Major League Baseball season.

Production this week was near empty for these sluggers. Each of them is desperately trying to find a repairman for his mechanics.

1) OF Colby Rasmus, STL

The Cardinal outfielder has been suffering. Hitless in his last 15 plate appearances, Rasmus could only provide a single walk to help his team this week.

Rasmus had a .000 AVG this past week, which dropped his season total to .179 AVG.

Fantasy Baseball Insiders Tonight—4/20: Giants' Jonathan Sanchez K's 10

Game No. 17 of 162 in Fantasy Baseball Insiders’ summer-long journey featured a revived Jose Reyes and an impressive pitching performance from this week’s hottest pickup: Mike Pelfrey .

Game No. 17 – Chicago Cubs vs. New York Mets

Where Have All The Lost Runs Batted In Gone?

I know that is a weird title for an article, but I didn't know what else to call it.

It is a subject most of us never think about or simply didn't know about them.

I am referring to the RBI that are left after a ball caroms off the wall with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th or extra innings walk offs in a tie-game or come from behind.

New York Mets: Lack Of Direction Can Be Paralyzing

The main problem plaguing the New York Mets right now is not Omar Minaya, Jerry Manuel, or the pitching staff; it’s the complete lack of certainty.

Will Jerry Manuel still be around in two weeks? Your guess is as good as mine.

What will the Mets’ pitching staff look like next week? Who knows.

How long will Ike Davis be on the big league roster? A week? Two weeks?

Focused Fausto: Tribe's Fausto Carmona Has Become a New Pitcher

After allowing just two walks all spring, it took Fausto Carmona two hitters to equal that number in his first start of 2010.

Collectively Cleveland sighed and exclaimed, "Oh boy, here we go again!"

He isn't fixed; he's still the same old rattled head case that can't throw strikes. This year is going to be even worse than we imagined. How could anyone put a single strand of hope into this enigma of a pitcher?

Carlos Quentin would eventually fly out and Paul Konerko would bring home the game's first run with a sacrifice fly. Remarkably, the damage was limited.
