Doug Fister is fresh off arguably the most difficult season of his career, and he is ready to change directions.

Of ESPN's first 10 announced Sunday Night Baseball telecasts for 2016, five feature either the New York Yankees or Boston Red Sox. Three feature the Yankees and the Red Sox.

After two months of uncertainty, the New York Mets and outfielder Yoenis Cespedes reunited when the former All-Star signed a three-year deal on Tuesday worth $75 million to help the defending National League Champions get over that final hurdle.    

The Washington Nationals announced on Tuesday that they agreed to a deal with veteran pitcher Bronson Arroyo. 

The team also revealed it was a minor league contract with an invitation to major league spring training.

All-Star outfielder Yoenis Cespedes was a highly coveted free agent this offseason yet chose to remain with the New York Mets instead of changing clubs for a fifth time within three years.

Word is Jonathan Lucroy would welcome a trade to a team that has eyes on winning. All he needs now is a team that's willing to bet he can be a star catcher again, which is hardly the craziest notion.

All-Star catcher Salvador Perez is signed through the 2019 season, but the Kansas City Royals may be looking to hammer out the details on a new contract this offseason. MLB Network's Jon Heyman reported Monday the Royals are in discussions with Perez on a long-term extension.

The Houston Astros announced Monday that minor league pitcher Jose Rosario died in a motorcycle accident Sunday night in the Dominican Republic.

"Our thoughts go out to Jose's family, friends and many teammates," Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said in a statement.

Oz Ocampo, Houston's director of international, said in a statement Rosario was a "true student of the game."

The New York Mets announced Monday that longtime catcher Mike Piazza will have his No. 31 jersey retired by the franchise on July 30.  

After spending the last year as sellers, the Oakland Athletics may be ready to start investing in their future with star outfielder Josh Reddick.   

According to John Hickey of the Bay Area News Group, the Athletics and Reddick are ready to start discussions about a multiyear contract extension.
