Chicago White Sox: A Look At Their Pitching Potential

Ever since Kenny Williams stole Jake Peavy away from the San Diego Padres, I have been dying for the start of the 2010 MLB season.

The White Sox have loads of potential for this new season. They have one of the best and deepest starting pitching rotations in the league. But just how good can this staff be? I dream about the answer every night.

The Sox look loaded when it comes to pitching. But, it can come down to how you want to look at it.

Chicago White Sox: One DH, Two DH, Red DH, Blue DH

The Chicago White Sox have many options at the DH spot this season
And although none of them are Red or Blue,
Dr. Seuss would agree Ozzie Guillen has many options,
including Andruw.

From Vizquel to Kotsay
Guillen has his to pick,
but who shall see the most at-bats,
perhaps DHing A.J. when he's acting like a di...jerk.

Okay, enough rhyming. Although, for the record, I could have gone the entire article in a rhyme scheme.

Now That Frank Thomas Is Retired, Is He Really a Hall of Famer?

With former Chicago White Sox star Frank Thomas announcing his retirement on Friday, the thought crossed my mind to what his legacy will be.

Just a few years back, there were questions whether he would be a Hall of Famer.

Now it seems to be a slam-dunk that not only will he get in, but that it will be the highest honor of all—first ballot.

But is Frank Thomas really a Hall of Fame baseball player?

Statistically he is. With 521 career home runs, a .301 lifetime batting average, 1,704 ribbies, and a .419 OBP, am I crazy for even asking this question?

Frank Thomas Retires: End of Era For One of Baseball's Good-Guys

Frank "Big Hurt" Thomas will always be remembered as one of the hardest hitting Chicago White Sox in history.

Thomas had stints with the Oakland A's and Toronto Blue Jays, but his legacy will be that of a South Sider when he's one day enshrined into baseball's hall of fame.

A player doesn't earn the moniker "Big Hurt" without reason. Thomas was big, 6'5" and 275 pounds, and legend has it that he "Sandlotted" a baseball, annihilating it with his powerful swing—ripping it to shreds.

Chicago White Sox Continue To Add, Trade for Juan Pierre

Guess which team has been the most aggressive this offseason?

The New York Yankees? Nope. The Los Angeles Dodgers? Not even close. The Boston Red Sox? Maybe.

How about the Chicago White Sox? Bingo.

Chicago White Sox Hot Stove: How Do You Turn This Thing On?

The White Sox have made a few moves this offseason to bring in guys that were at one time good, and at this current time fall somewhere between “ok ” and “retired .”

However, since the Tigers have decided that owning good young players is “soooo last year” and the Twins don’t have the resources to add to their team, the Sox seem to be the favorite in the AL Central for next season.

Silent No More: A Declaration for the Forgotten MLB Teams

I try to keep it to myself.  I try to just let it slide.  I try to just move on and say, "They will do better next time."

Unfortunately, they never do better.

I'm tired of the larger sports media outlets simply getting things wrong when publishing "top" lists.

When I say "wrong," I mean completely ridiculous and not even arguable.  It is one thing to post an opinion that is arguable, but it is another thing to post it when it is just plain wrong and conveniently focused on one part of the country.

Jim Thome: Someone Should See Some Value in Him

Jim Thome is one of my favorite players ever, certainly current players withstanding.

It is painful to see his apparent value diminish to a pinch hitter's role with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Thome loves Chicago, considers it home, and would love to come back to the White Sox. They would like to have the slugger back. White Sox GM Ken Williams has not discounted the idea of re-signing Thome, after having traded him to the Dodgers for their playoff run in 2009.

Chicago White Sox Add Another Reliever, Sign J.J. Putz

Is it me or do the Chicago White Sox spend more time on trying to improve their bullpen than any team in baseball? I feel like they are always trading for or signing relief pitchers.
Today, the White Sox added yet another relief pitcher to the mix. MLB.com’s Noah Coslov has reported the White Sox have signed J.J. Putz to a one-year, $3 million contract.
