Kansas City Royals Trade Mark Teahen To The Chicago White Sox

Mark Teahen has reportedly been traded to the Chicago White Sox. The Kansas City Royals will receive second baseman Chris Getz and third baseman Josh Fields.

Getz stole 25 bases in only 107 games in 2009, while Fields hit 23 home runs in only 100 games in 2007. Both players are currently 26 years old.

Teahen hit 12 home runs and drove in 50 while hitting .271 last year. He split time between first, second and third base, as well as right field. He will begin Spring Training as the Sox starting third baseman.

Mark Teahen Traded To The White Sox?

According to a New York Daily News report, the White Sox have agreed to trade second baseman Chris Getz and third baseman Josh Fields to the Kansas City Royals for Mark Teahen. The deal has not yet been finalized.

I'm going to focus on Chris Getz and Mark Teahen in this commentary as Josh Fields has become an after-thought for the Sox. The former first round pick has struggled to make contact at the major league level and doesn't appear to be in their long term plans.

A Look Back at 1919 Black Sox Series

A couple weeks ago, with the 90th anniversary of the 1919 Black Sox Series having just past and this year's World Series coming up, I went through the Chicago Tribune archives and put together a post on their coverage of the end of that series and the gambling rumors that were circulating around it.

Second City's Second Ballpark

Article originally posted on www.stadiumjourney.com

Many long-time White Sox fans continue to refer to the park as Comiskey, but when U.S. Cellular Field is referred to as “The Cell,” it conjures up images of a dark and foreboding fortress.  This image does not do the park justice.  It is a wide open structure with great sight lines and large concourses that will be enjoyed by most fans of the great sport of baseball.

Word of Advice to Yankees and Phillies Fans: Enjoy It While You Can

Right now Yankees and Phillies fans are feeling good about their World Series chances. As for Dodgers and Angels fans, they’re slightly less hopeful.

In any case, one of those four teams will be the 2009 World Series champion, and players and fans alike will feel like champions—but only for a few months.

2009 White Sox Player Review: Bobby Jenks

While it's no guarantee that Bobby Jenks pitched his last game with the Sox Sept. 17, if the Sox are looking to shed salary in the offseason Jenks likely will be first on the chopping block. He'll probably be due about $7 million after arbitration, and with Matt Thornton waiting in the wings, the Sox wouldn't be completely out of line to deal away Jenks.

Cup of Coffee: Pt. Two

If you missed part one of this installment, check it out here.  Now, for part two:

Eddie Cicotte

This is the man that inspired this little project.  Cicotte won 208 big league games before receiving a lifetime ban for his roll in conspiring to throw the 1919 World Series as a member of the Chicago White Sox. Cicotte threw 18 innings and won one game as a member of the Detroit Tigers. He was born and passed away in the state of Michigan.

Fixing The White Sox Part 3: The Offense

The inconsistency of the Sox offense was one of the bigger issues for the team this season.

At times they would crush the ball all over the yard, but far more often, they would struggle to put rallies together. It didn't take an elite pitcher to put the Sox offense to sleep either; in fact they could make guys like David Huff and Sergio Mitre look like Zack Greinke.
