Colorado Rockies Have Figured Out How to Win on the Road

Since their inception in 1993, the Colorado Rockies have had several types of teams.

July Goodbye: Will the Rockies Fade?

So the Rockies, who have historically gone into a June Swoon and been completely out of the pennant race by now, have staged a surge that, had it occurred in August, would've been equal in improbability to The Great Hot Streak of 2007.

They've pulled themselves from the cellar to 37-35 and third in the National League West.

This has been done with great pitching and superior defense, which were the strengths of the 2007 team (and their strong moral fiber, of course).

But can it be sustained?

It can be, if we keep succeeding in these areas:

Aaron Cook Looks To Break Rockies Record In Anaheim

Aaron Cook enters Monday night's game against the Angels with 58 career wins. A win tonight will put Cook solely in first place on the Rockies all-time wins list.

It should be a special moment for Cook. While his talent has never been questioned, the fact that the 2007 All-Star is still pitching in the big leagues is no small miracle.

Rockies-Pirates:De La Rosa Pitches Well, Colorado Wins Stunning 16-Of-17

Today featured Jorge De La Rosa, who, to this point in the season was a paltry 2-7, with a 5.81 ERA for the Rockies, against Paul Maholm, a strong left hander, 4-3 with a 4.23 ERA, much more respectable numbers.

De La Rosa can be electric, with a fastball in the 96-to-98 mph range, but his location is very suspect. He leaves too many balls high in the strikezone, especially fastballs.

Colorado Rockies: Hottest Team in Baseball? Yes.

Those darn Rays.

If it wasn't for the 12-4 loss that the Rockies endured against the team from Tampa, the team from Colorado would be on a 16-game winning streak right now.

But that's a tough thing to complain about; even with the loss, the Rockies have won 15 of their last 16, and no other team can boast such a run this year.

Baseball: A Game for Fathers and Sons

Baseball truly is something special.

It’s more than a simple sport or even a game.

Baseball involves feelings and emotions, and in result, can create a special bond between a father and a son.

Prospect Report: Jhoulys Chacin

We’ve tracked Jhoulys Chacin in our Prospect Reports (click here for the latest), but as he continues to impress in the minor leagues the time has come to give him his proper respect.  After opening the season at 1-3 with a 4.87 ERA at Double-A, he’s responded by going 4-2 with a 2.41 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 55 K over his past 9 starts (56 i

Rockies Take Series With Rays Behind Another Gem By Ubaldo Jimenez

Anyone who knows Ubaldo Jimenez knows that his boyhood hero is Pedro Martinez. Jimenez watched his fellow country man dominate opposing Major League hitters from his home in the Dominican Republic.

Streak Is Over, Rockies Back In The Hunt?

There is a noticeable mood difference in the Denver area as the Rockies showed they are still actually playing baseball and not hosting summer social gatherings at Coors Field. After tying a franchise record 11 game win streak the town is buzzing a bit!
