Livan Hernandez: Last Start for the New York Mets?

Tonight is a very important game for the Mets. They have won three of their last four games and they are looking to continue to build momentum.

Livan Hernandez, whose job is anything but secure, will take the hill for the Mets, while Ricky Nolasko will be taking the hill for the Fish. If Hernandez puts up a similar outing to his last one, many people will call for the promotion of Tim Redding, who has hit as high as 93 MPH with his fastball during his rehab assignment.

Phillies-Marlins: Can't Wait for the Sequel

To everyone who resisted the desire to touch the clicker late in the impending shutout in Friday night's Phillies game with the Marlins, I commend you.

I have but one thing to say: That’s why we call him Shane Victorino!

Did you see that?! His grand slam was sweet!

So maybe it wasn't as immortal as the one he slammed when we crushed C.C. (wait, he prefers "CC'; I'm rolling my eyes here) Sabathia in the Playoffs, but it hit the spot, no doubt.

Fantasy Baseball: The Best Pitching Rotation in Baseball

The Marlins rotation is good. Not just a little good. Really good.
It's true, I'm not exactly stating something not known by the rest of the fantasy world. Still, when you look at the front four, it appears stronger than any in baseball. It's not exactly by accident.

Are the Pirates for real?

At 9-6, the Pittsburgh Pirates have gotten off to their best start since 2002. After sweeping the first place Florida Marlins this week, things are looking pretty good in Pirate-ville right now.

Five MLB Teams That Can't Keep Up Their Current Pace

With two weeks behind us in this young baseball season, there are a high number of what could be called "surprise teams" in baseball right now. There are also a number of teams that are underperforming expert expectations. Allow me to come to your aid and provide hope to the hopeless and rain on a few parades.

Good, Bad, and Ugly: Washington Nationals Lose Late Lead, Game to Marlins

THE RESULT: For the third day in a row, the Washington Nationals took a lead into the ninth inning. For the third day in a row, they lost. Today, it was a 7-4 loss to the Florida Marlins.  Michael Hinckley and Saul Rivera gave up one-run leads in the eighth and ninth innings respectively, and Rivera paid for it with his job.

Hinckley surrendered a solo home run with two outs in the eighth to Cody Ross to tie the game at three.

Emilio Bonifacio: The Fastest Player You've Never Heard Of

Speed kills.

And for Emilio Bonifacio, the Marlins' young speedster at the hot corner, it's his main tool.

Born in the Dominican Republic, Bonifacio is 23-years-young, and has already been traded twice.

Brought up in the Arizona Diamondbacks' organization, he made his MLB debut on September 1st, 2007.  Bonifacio was traded to the Washington Nationals on July 22th, 2008 for pitcher Jon Rauch, and immediately optioned to the Nationals' Triple A affiliate in Columbus.

Florida Marlins Fans: Don't Get Too Excited Yet

Many around baseball have been abuzz with the fast start of the Florida Marlins (11-1). But don't anoint them playoff bound just yet.

Not only is it a mere two weeks into the very long baseball season, but the Marlins have been blessed with an extremely easy schedule out of the gate.

Florida Marlins Look Fantast

The Florida Marlins showcased why they're my pick for World Series champs this week in their series against the Braves.

The Stolen Base. A Lost Art. Will We Ever See a 100 Steal Man Again?

The stolen base in Major League Baseball is sadly, a lost art. In an era that is slowly recovering from the aberration that was the "live ball era" (i.e. steroid era) and coming to grips that it all was just a sham, before this fad, was the art of the stolen base.
