Baseball Bloggers Alliance Names Award After Former Yankees Reliever

The group of baseball bloggers known as Baseball Bloggers Alliance (BBA) announced today a partnership with former Yankees reliever Goose Gossage. The Hall of Fame reliever agreed to lend his name to the organization.

BBA is naming one of their annual postseason awards after Gossage. The award that goes to the top relief pitcher in each league will be called the Goose Gossage Award.

Save The Yankee Gate 2

As most of you know by now, the Yankees moved into a brand new stadium last season. The old Yankee Stadium is being torn down to make way for a large park that is expected to include baseball fields, a track, tennis courts, and more. Only one gate remains from the original 1923 Yankee Stadium.

That gate is Gate 2.

Yankee Stadium is currently being torn down and Gate 2 is expected to go with it.

The Yankee Stadium Farewell Address

October 19th, 2003.

It’s the bottom of the 11th.  The New York Yankees vs. the Boston Red Sox, game seven in the American League Championship Series. Aaron Boone steps to the plate and hits a walk off home run to left field, sending the Yankees to yet another World Series appearance.

And that’s just one recent memory. The list goes on and on. For every Yankee fan, there is a group of defining moments that occurred at the old Yankee stadium that blur the lines between sports and miracles, routine and impossibility.
