MLB On FOX: Where Have All the Quality Broadcasters Gone?

I always used to remember, when the Phillies played on a national stage, it was a big event. Any team that gets a nationally (or partially nationally) televised game, their fans look to it as a little bigger than a local station telecast.

That being said, Eric Karros and Dick Stockton announced today's Phillies-Dodgers game. Not only was it the worst and most awkward broadcast I have ever watched, they couldn't even do the simple tasks of being an announcer.

Kruk and Kuip—The Best in a Watered Down Business

I've hit a little bit of a lull—the writing bug has stopped biting so incessantly.

When that happens, I find it's usually best to return to the things you really love and hope that sparks things back up a bit.  For me, that means the San Francisco Giants.  Luckily for me, there's a subject that fits nicely right into the inaugural week of the Major League Baseball season.

Oliver Perez is Out of Shape

Richard Simmons was last seen entering the Mets locker room in Port St. Lucie carrying a fairly worn copy of "Sweatin' to the Oldies." His target: Oliver Perez.

It seems our new multi-million dollar man needs to get in some better shape. The Daily News quoted Mets pitching coach, Dan Warthen, as saying "I think he's out of shape, the arm is out of shape..."

This is fantastic news. Not only did we send our second highest paid starting pitcher to the WBC, but he comes back out of shape because he wasn't working out while playing in the WBC.

YES Rejects Jim Kaat

On Thursday I mentioned that Jim Kaat would be returning to the broadcast booth with MLB Network for a few games this year, including the home opener at the New Yankee Stadium. But now we find out from Bob Raissman that he wanted to return to YES.
