Now that baseball is in the thick of the winter meetings, rumors and potential signings and trades will be heard out the wazoo. Plenty will be going around throughout the next two days or so, and Bleacher Report's Adam Wells has done a fantastic job of keeping track of them so far.

Major League Baseball's winter meetings are always a hotbed of activity. After a long season and a little rest, front offices around the league are looking forward to next season and trying to determine the best course of action to bolster their rosters for 2014.

Much is being made of the Philadelphia Phillies' desire to trade left fielder Domonic Brown, as reported by Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan. A line in the sand has been drawn, and there are those who feel as if Brown is the keystone for the Phillies' future while others are screaming sell, sell, sell!

Monday marked the first day of MLB's annual winter meetings in Florida, as executives from all 30 teams are gathered to discuss the current state of the game.

But they're also there to talk about possible trades and meet with agents about the prospects of signing new players. While there weren't any big deals announced on Monday, Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports noted that the groundwork for a lot of potential trades has been laid.

The first day of the winter meetings brought very little in the way of transactions, but it did see one of the greatest pitchers in recent memory call it a career when Roy Halladay signed a one-day contract with the Blue Jays and announced his retirement.

As St. Louis Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak heads into his second day of the baseball winter meetings, it must be a nice feeling to hold all of the cards, so to speak.  He doesn't have to make a move but can if he sees a great opportunity.

There are no more holes to fill in the everyday lineup and the pitching cupboard is overflowing with arms.  Mozeliak has built this team to contend not only in 2014, but well beyond that as well.

The Arizona Diamondbacks want to protect slugger Paul Goldschmidt, but trading for Mark Trumbo is not the answer.

Welcome to Day 2 of our 2013 Major League Baseball winter meetings live blog. While there were a flurry of rumors floating around on Monday, not a lot of action took place. Expect that to change Tuesday, as teams and players figure to get more in-depth with things. 

Trades, free agents, rumors and the Masahiro Tanaka situation all figure to be on the front burner Tuesday. We will be here to break it all down, so sit back, relax and enjoy all the nail-biting news coming from Orlando. 

This MLB offseason marks the third that Theo Epstein and company have been at the reins of the Chicago Cubs, and to this point, it has been a relatively quiet winter on the North Side.

That's not a big change from the past two years, as the new front office staff has been methodical in its approach towards rebuilding the franchise from the ground up and putting its stamp on the organization.

Generally speaking, the MLB winter meetings tend to generate the most free-agent signings and surprising trades. But in 2013, the tides might have changed.

Over the past week, Robinson Cano, Jacoby Ellsbury, Carlos Beltran, Hiroki Kuroda, Curtis Granderson, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Joe Nathan, Mike Napoli and a slew of other free agents put pen to paper. There were also nine trades, with Doug Fister to the Washington Nationals perhaps being the most significant.
