Back in August, I wrote about how a healthy Matt Kemp would be the final piece to the Dodgers' World Series run. And when he finally returned in mid-September with 11 hits in his first 28 at-bats, including three doubles and a homer, that final piece to an already strong team appeared to have arrived.

Sure, he was one of many cornerstone players to ever don the birds on the bat. But this rich and historic organization won before him and with him, and now they are winning without him.

The Oakland Athletics and Detroit Tigers locked up in a great battle in Game 4, but the Tigers ultimately came out on top to tie the series at 2-2.

The Athletics gave up three runs in the eighth inning, which ultimately ended up being the difference in the game.

After a season full of ailments, Matt Kemp will now have to deal with a shoulder injury throughout the MLB offseason.   

The Los Angeles Dodgers Twitter account reported that the outfielder will undergo surgery on his left shoulder:

Even though all eyes in Pittsburgh will be focused on Busch Stadium Wednesday night as the Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals end their epic 24-game battle (regular season included) in Game 5 of the National League Division Series, it's important to talk about what this year has meant for the once-maligned franchise.
