With every passing hour, we draw closer to the non-waiver trade deadline, putting added pressure on general managers around baseball to figure out whether their teams are going to be buying or selling over the next few weeks.

That passing of time corresponds with the rumor mill speeding up as well, with speculation and tidbits coming faster and more furious than at any point thus far during the regular season—and it's very likely it will reach ludicrous speed before too long.

Max Scherzer's impressive reign of terror over opposing lineups finally came to an end Saturday as the Texas Rangers handed him his first loss of the season.

The Detroit Tigers ace lasted six innings, allowing eight hits, four earned runs and two walks while striking out six in the 7-1 loss to the Rangers. 

The saga that has become the relationship between third baseman Alex Rodriguez and the New York Yankees organization continues.

Perhaps Yasiel Puig losing out in his chase for the National League's final All-Star spot was serendipitous after all.

The MLB will celebrate the best that baseball has to offer on Tuesday night in the 2013 All-Star Game. The classic midsummer matchup, pitting the American League against the National League, will take place at Citi Field in the Big Apple.

So, who should fans be most excited to see?

Here, we'll take a closer look at a trio of stars sure to entertain fans on Tuesday. 

Chris Davis, American League, 1B

Bill Nye "The Science Guy" danced his way to the mound before throwing out the first pitch at the Mariners game Friday. 

He also had an awesome custom jersey.

As the 2013 MLB regular approaches the All-Star break, the Colorado Rockies are gearing up to make a playoff push in the second half.

Similar to last season, injury has defined this very talented ball club through the majority of the first half. However, all the pieces are beginning to fall back into place for the Rox, who have a legitimate shot to compete in a mediocre NL West.

With sluggers like Chris Davis of the Baltimore Orioles, Prince Fielder of the Detroit Tigers and Robinson Cano of the New York Yankees involved in this year's Home Run Derby, there certainly figures to be plenty of fireworks at Citi Field in Flushing, N.Y. Even so, it's fun to wonder what could have been if some different choices were made.

He gets the ball, but in the least graceful way possible.
