Pelfrey Dominant, Davis Wins It For Mets Over Padres

NEW YORK-- When will the Mets ever lose another home game? It looked like they were on their way to one tonight, but after nine strong innings from Mike Pelfrey, Ike Davis won it in the 11th.

The Padres, entering the Mets' home with the NL's best record, took an early lead. Three batters in to the game, the Padres took a 1-0 lead on an RBI double by Adrian Gonzalez.

The Padres wouldn't score another run for the rest of the game. Just maybe that would be enough for them to win.

This Just In: Stephen Strasburg Is Good at Baseball.

It cannot be overstated how amazing the debut of phenom Stephen Strasburg was.

Personally, I've never seen anything like it, and I seriously doubt that you have either.

With so much hype surrounding the young man, it seemed impossible for him to possibly live up to it, especially in his first big league outing. But live up to it he did, perhaps even making it seem like he wasn't getting enough hype.

Stephen Strasburg Debut: Rookie Delivers, Nationals Win Behind 14-K Performance

So much for first game jitters.

In the much-anticipated arrival of pitcher Stephen Strasburg to the majors, the flame throwing right-hander gave fans a glimmer of hope in a 5-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

From the moment Strasburg took the rubber Tuesday evening, he was in control despite the home run given up to Delwyn Young.

In seven innings of work, Strasburg gave up four hits, struck out 14 (yikes!), and walked none. Not bad if you started him in a league that uses K/BB ratio as a category.

Stephen Strasburg Debut: The Top Five Pitching Debuts of All-Time

Tonight, Stephen Strasburg took the mound for the first time against the Pittsburgh Pirates in front of a sold-out crowd at Nationals Stadium.

He pitched a great game, but was it one of the all-time best debuts?

Fantasy Baseball: Hot Streak Report Week 9

It was definitely a big week for the league’s corner infielders. The names of Youkilis, Glaus, Konerko, Rolen, Kouzmanoff, and Cabrera were on the tops of all the statistics. The guardians of the baselines spoke with their bats, and ruled the diamond.

Martinez, Gardner, Rasmus and Suzuki spent last week blasting the hardball. Injuries and rest days couldn’t put out their fire.

Coming Of Ace: Stephen Strasburg Earns Win, Strikes Out 14 in MLB Debut

"Remember where you are so you remember where you were."–Nationals radio announcer Charlie Slowes after Tuesday night's game

Wow. Just wow.

What more is there to say about Stephen Strasburg's debut?

The buzz surrounding the right-handed fireballer reached historic levels before he even signed a professional contract. He was the unquestioned No. 1 pick in the draft last year, jumping to the top of a prospect class that was far more talented than this year's.

2010 MLB Draft Recap: Atlanta Braves Top Picks, Thoughts

Although the MLB Draft is still going on (rounds 31-50 are tomorrow) I decided to get the draft recap done as players picked lower than 30th rarely end up signing. If the Braves add anyone who I could see making an impact, I will be sure to add them to the list.

First, here is a quick breakdown of what the Braves drafted, going by their listing on MLB.com.

Catchers: 3

Chicago Cubs Off to Lackluster Start: A Close Look at 25-Player Roster, Part II

At 26-31 and 6.5 games out of first place in the NL Central, the Chicago Cubs are certainly still in the race for the playoffs—after all, it's only June.

But this team does not have the feel of a playoff team, and I know I'm not alone in thinking that.

The Cubs rank No. 7 in the National League in team hitting and No. 9 in team pitching, respectively, but it seems like they should be in the bottom-third with the way they've played at times this season.

2010 has not been kind to the Chicago Cubs, and the 25 men on the roster will help explain why:
