MLB Trade Ideas Based on Latest Week 8 News, Rumors and Speculation

There's a false narrative making the rounds that it's too early for teams to be wheeling and dealing. History tells us that's simply not the case—significant deals can be struck before the calendars flip to June.

Two of the more notable names to be moved before the season's third month in the past 25 years are Lee Smith, one of the game's all-time great closers who went from Boston to St. Louis in 1990, and Mike Piazza, who should be in the Hall of Fame and was traded not once, but twice in May 1998.

Bryce Harper and Kris Bryant Have Taken Similar Yet Different Paths to Stardom

When the Cubs and Nationals squared off for the first time this season on Memorial Day, each team featured their own version of a baseball phenom.

Bryce Harper and Kris Bryant don't seem like identical players off the top of the head, but the list of similarities between the two players is quite a long one.

Both grew up in the Las Vegas area, where they played with—on the same travel team, called the Ballbusters—and against each other since they were nine and seven years old. They also each have keen memories of the other.

8 Offseason MLB Moves Looking Like Steals 2 Months into 2015 Season

Every year in MLB, teams make moves in hopes of improving their respective ballclubs. While some of those transactions turn out to be underwhelming flops, many wind up being under-the-radar steals.

The 2015 season has had its share of bargain buys. Players like Shelby Miller, Josh Donaldson and Dee Gordon have settled into their new homes and performed at a high level.

Every MLB Team's Biggest Trade Chip 2 Months from the Deadline

From Johnny Cueto to Starlin Castro, there are all sorts of prominent big leaguers who could land on the MLB trade block in the next two months.

Not every team has an ace like Cueto or a promising shortstop like Castro to shop, but every club has at least one player who would be an extremely popular target if he ends up becoming available on the trade front this summer.

With Rangers Streaking, Josh Hamilton Could Be More Than Novelty in Texas

When the Texas Rangers traded for Josh Hamilton in late April, it was easy to interpret the deal as a low-risk move that, at the least, would help generate interest in an otherwise uninteresting team.

But now, you can't help but wonder if the Rangers will end up getting more than they bargained for.
