Casey McGehee Ready to Quietly, Cheaply Replace Pablo Sandoval

Casey McGehee isn't Pablo Sandoval. He doesn't have a cute animal nickname, and he's never inspired anyone to wear a panda mask (that we know of).

Replacing Sandoval in the hearts and minds of San Francisco Giants fans is an impossible task. He was simply too big and beloved a figure in the Bay Area.

MLB Spring Training 2015: Ranking the Most Alarming Superstar Performances

Mr. Commissioner, enough with the pace-of-play rules. For your next move as the face of MLB, can you make players wear a sign around their neck during spring training that says "WARNING: ALL STATS SHOULD BE TAKEN IN CONTEXT"?

Kris Bryant Hits 2 Home Runs in Spring Training Game vs. Mariners

Kris Bryant is certainly making a strong case this spring that he belongs on the Chicago Cubs' 25-man roster come Opening Day. The 23-year-old phenom continued his torrid spring Saturday, ripping two home runs in the team's exhibition contest against the Seattle Mariners.

His numbers have to be seen to be believed, and ESPN Stats & Information passed them along:

Braves 1B Joey Terdoslavich Turns Unassisted Double Play...at Third Base

Thanks to great hustle, Atlanta Braves first baseman Joey Terdoslavich turned what might be the oddest unassisted double play in baseball history during Saturday's spring training game against the St. Louis Cardinals.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, St. Louis had Yadier Molina at third and Dean Anna on first with nobody out. When the Cardinals' Kolten Wong hit a chopper to Terdoslavich at first base, chaos ensued.

According to Jesse Rogers of ESPN Chicago, Castro was scratched from the Cubs lineup Saturday against Seattle:

Starting Pitchers Trying to Reinvent Themselves This Spring

Pitchers are ever evolving, constantly altering mechanics, tweaking their deliveries just so or even working on adding new pitches.

Spring training is the best place to try to implement those changes, because the exhibition season presents game situations that don't actually count.

All of the work, none of the mess.

Here's a look at a batch of pitchers who are using the spring to make some adjustments.

MLB Spring Training 2015: Who's Hot, Who's Not Through 3 Weeks of Games

Most everyone knows by now not to put too much stock into spring training performances for any number of reasons. Pitchers are building up innings, hitters are getting back into the, uh, swing of things, and prospects and non-roster invitees receive a lot of playing time that they won't once the real games begin.

Regardless, it's still fun to check in every once in a while to see which players are doing well and which aren't. The statistics don't count, but they're available—and who knows, maybe some of 'em do matter even a little.

MLB's Luckiest 2014 Players Who Could Struggle in 2015

Earlier this week, we looked at poor souls who were victimized by bad luck during the 2014 Major League Baseball season and who are therefore due for good luck in 2015.

'Twas a happy discussion, as forecasting good luck is cheerful work. Certainly much more cheerful than forecasting bad luck, anyway.
