Before we get to talking about Joey Gallo and the future of the Texas Rangers, let's talk about Yu Darvish and the present of the Texas Rangers.

Which, yeah, is not a particularly pretty picture.

When Yogi Berra said 90 percent of baseball is mental and that the other half is physical, he was only half-right. He forgot about luck, which is also some random-but-notable percentage of the game.

With spring training now in full swing, it's an appropriate time to take a glance around the MLB landscape and check in on each team's most pleasant surprises and biggest disappointments.

Every MLB organization has its own individual storylines. The spring provides fans a first look at those hot topics, and better insight into which players are overperforming or underperforming during camp. Those performances ultimately lead to final roster decisions come Opening Day.

Spring training has begun, and the Dodgers are still a few weeks away from moving from Arizona to Los Angeles. However, their roster is still slightly in flux; I believe the platonic ideal of their Opening Day roster is not what it would actually look like if the team broke camp today.

Former MLB coach and player Tommy Lasorda released a video on his Instagram with no context given of him singing DJ Snake and Lil Jon's "Turn Down for What," and it's possibly the most wonderful rendition we've ever heard. 

With the production of the film Moneyball back in 2011, Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane became a nationally known figure.

Since that outstanding movie's release, the A's have been even more successful and Beane has been even more daring.

All-time hits king Pete Rose appears to hope a third MLB commissioner will be the charm in applying for reinstatement to the sport. New commissioner Robert Manfred confirmed Monday that Rose has applied again to have his lifetime ban lifted.   

The American League West, won by the Los Angeles Angels in 2014, is one of the more exciting divisions in baseball, featuring some of the brightest stars in the game. In addition to the bevy of stars, last season's race for the division crown was heated between the Angels, Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners. 

The Tommy John surgery dragon just keeps blowing fire on the hopes of teams across the land. The New York Mets and Zack Wheeler are its latest victims. 

While the Milwaukee Brewers continue to struggle through a nasty pink-eye breakout, the Toronto Blue Jays could be facing an injury bug spurred by everyday bodily functions.
