The Seattle Mariners made it through the trade deadline without giving up any of their top prospects, leaving a promising farm system in place.

Allen Craig was acquired by the Boston Red Sox prior to the trade deadline, but a bum ankle has limited him to just one game with his new team. It turns out the severity of the injury is enough to keep the outfielder out for a lot longer. 

According to MLB writer Maureen Mullen, Craig will be placed on the 15-day disabled list because of his faulty ankle:

The Cincinnati Reds are painful to watch at the plate right now. In the last 17 games, the Reds have averaged 2.4 runs per game. Monday night, August 4, marked the 25th time overall this season the Reds have scored one run or less. 

Freddy vs. Jason. Rocky versus Drago. Bryce Harper versus a wall. 

We know an iconic matchup when we see one, and Yasiel Puig versus Albert Pujols could blossom into one of the more entertaining clashes of ego we’ll see in baseball this year.

While fans and teams alike are still trying to recover from the chaos that unfolded at the trade deadline, baseball draws closer to a second wave of chaos with each passing day—the start of free agency.

From big-time starters like Jon Lester and Max Scherzer to All-Star sluggers like Nelson Cruz and, depending on the season, Hanley Ramirez, there's no shortage of impact players set to hit the open market after the current campaign.

The nonwaiver trade deadline is behind us, but that doesn't mean teams can't still upgrade their roster via trade. Clubs now have until the end of August to add players via waivers and still include them on the postseason roster.

Generally the moves made at this time are small scale, but there have been some notable waiver deals over the years, most memorably the blockbuster between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox in 2012.
