An offer has been made to re-acquire the services of Hisanori Takahashi, but unless the Mets significantly up the offer, he is almost certain to walk.

Earlier today it was reported by Dave Waldstein of the New York Post that the Mets have offered Takahashi an incentive-leaden one-year proposal. Takahashi is reported as seeking a deal between two to three years and if the Mets don’t significantly up the offer, he will more than likely walk to any of the other 29 remaining teams.

In a move that was anticipated for weeks, the New York Mets officially hired Sandy Alderson as their next General Manager on Friday. The Mets signed Alderson to a four-year deal with a club option for 2015.

Despite the Mets interviewing candidates like Rick Hahn, Allard Baird, and Josh Byrnes, Alderson was the Mets' guy from the beginning. Alderson is a Bud Selig guy and the Wilpons are Selig guys, so this was a match from the beginning.

That's right, I said it.  Javier Vazquez would be a great fit for the New York Mets.  Last year, Vazquez was less than stellar for the Yankees.  He just couldn't seem to get it going, but when he finally did, he did it in Citi Field.

During the Subway Series, Vazquez pitched one of the best games of his not-so-good season.  It seemed as if Vazquez benefited from the spacious dimensions of Citi Field.  He was throwing strikes and was keeping the ball in the park. 

Ever since Sandy Alderson has said that he is looking for a fiery manager, Wally Backman's name has been mentioned everywhere in the Mets world.  Backman, a former player of the Mets, is in the running for the Mets new manager. 

Now that the search for their general manager is over, the Mets can now concentrate on getting a manager.  At the moment, they are in the early stages.  Many names are being mentioned, and we all know that only a few will become serious contenders for the job. 

To no surprise, Sandy Alderson has officially been named the new general manager for the New York Mets. Throughout the whole search, Alderson seemed to be the front runner for the job. The Mets and Alderson have agreed to a four year deal, with a club option for 2015. 

Alderson is now at the helm of running the team, and Mets fans are very excited to begin this new era. Alderson has loads of baseball knowledge and is a poised man who will do whatever he can to follow and execute his plan.

Now that the Mets have officially introduced Sandy Alderson as their new general manager, the rebuilding of the team can begin. Alderson signed a four-year contract with a club option for 2015 to replace Omar Minaya, who was dismissed following the end of the regular season.

The New York Mets finally have a new general manager. Sandy Alderson was announced on Thursday as the replacement for Omar Minaya.

It appears Mets fans may be able to breath a sigh of relief and have reason to believe again in their orange and blue squad.

But in case Alderson—who has a history of building championship teams—needs a hand, I have come up with some ways to help improve the Mets, both short-term and for the long haul.

With Sandy Alderson set to take over as the new General Manager of the New York Mets, its time to get business rolling. Next on the list is to find an appropriate manager to handle the on-field business and after that its time to figure out how the roster will fill out. 

With some money to work with, Alderson has the experience and expertise to know how and where to spend it. Obviously he will never see this article, but here are some suggestions on realistic options the Mets have this off season in regards to free agency. 

In the words of Howie Rose, "Put it in the books" when it comes to Sandy Alderson as the new GM for the Amazin's.

Now the focus will turn to who will take the helm as the team's next manager. Before I give some suggestions, I'd like to set one thing straight.
