MLB's Surprises and Busts for 2010: A Roundtable With the Ladies of Twitter

Times are changing and Twitter has quickly become a great source of sports information. Everyone from sports stars to professional sports writers to Internet-famed sports bloggers are writing daily. So TheFantasyFix.com decided it was time to host a roundtable discussion with the LADIES of TWITTER!

Oh, Jenrry: New York Mets Have a Decision To Make on Future of Mejia

If you follow the Mets beat writers on Twitter like I do, you would know that a majority of the conversation tonight was not about how the Mets got knocked around like chumps against the NL East-leading Atlanta Braves.

No, tonight's trending topic amongst the Mets media was on how 20-year-old Jenrry Mejia was blowing people away in his start in Buffalo tonight.  Mejia, who was in the Mets bullpen for the first few months of the 2010 season, went eight innings of 1-run ball, striking out nine.

Misch Mosh: New York Mets Drop Series Opener in Atlanta

After recording three quality starts in row (though he lost each one), Mets' starter Pat Misch was hammered in his three innings of work tonight in Atlanta. He gave up five runs on eight hits, including a massive three-run homer to Braves' rookie phenom Jason Heyward with two outs in the second inning. The Braves won the game 9-3.

The Carlos Beltran Saga

Carlos Beltran began his career with the Kansas City Royals in 1998. In his first full season in 1999, Beltran won the A.L. Rookie of the Year, batting .293 with 22 HR, 108 RBI, and 27 SB. He spent parts of seven years as a Royal, where he established himself as one of the few five-tool players in the game.

With the 2010 season seemly over for the Mets, it's time to look to the 2011 season and who will be coming off the books.

R.A. Dickey Contributes With Arm and Bat In Mets Victory

NEW YORK-- R.A. Dickey came out of nowhere to impress this season when the Mets called him up, and he seems to just get better.

He didn't have his best knuckleball today, but it was good enough to breeze by the Astros for seven-plus innings.

Not only did he pitch well, he contributed with the bat in a way his team hasn't all season. The Mets scored four runs in the second inning against Bud Norris, and Dickey put the Mets on the board first.

Ambiorix Burgos, Former Met Pitcher, Forces Ex-Wife To Eat Rat Poison

The headline and the story is not satire, but sadly a true story coming out of the Dominican Republic.

According to the Associated Press, the ex-wife of Ambiorix Burgos is claiming that her crazed former husband forced her to eat rat poison. The accusation has led to kidnapping and attempted murder charges on the former Major Leaguer.

Mets Close Out Home Stand, Trying to Get Back to .500

NEW YORK-- So far in the month of August, the Mets have been a classic .500 ballclub. They haven't gone on a winning streak or losing streak, but they have been just at or around .500.

Every day this month, the Mets have either been a game over, a game under, or exactly even. Entering today, they're one under at 64-65.

The last time the Mets spent an entire month at no better than one over and no worse than one under was April 1970. Meaning it's been over 40 years since the Mets have had a month this average.

New York Mets Roster Expansion: Keep Your Eyes Peeled For These Five Guys

It is almost September. And taking the 2010 Mets season into consideration? La-di-da. Either way, the September roster expansion is looming. Based on some of the more productive members of the Mets farm system, there are indeed some guys I’d like to see before seasons end. Here are five guys that will, or at least should get recalled for the last month of the season.

Mets v. Astros: Mets Turn To Johan Santana as Offense Sputters

NEW YORK-- The Mets won their opening game against the Astros last night, but got out-hit nine to three. Once again, they couldn't produce any offense against a mediocre starting pitcher.

Normally, when Johan Santana takes the hill, the Mets offense doesn't do any better. They'll try to finally support him tonight, as the Mets face Brett Myers in the middle game of the weekend series.
