In the Dome We Trusted: Minnesota Twins Look Ahead to Next Year

I wanted to thank the Metrodome for its many great memories for the past few decades.  One can only hope those made at Target Field will be more memorable. 'Tis time to deflate the Dome and have the spirits of great Twins teams of the past move across the street, and yes, those for Metropolitan Stadium are also welcome.

Why I'm Rooting for the Yankees This Postseason

LET'S GO YANKEES!

Just chanting that in my head in the same monotone sound that can be heard from the bleacher bums in Yankee Stadium.

Typing this makes me feel a bit dirty. I'm going to need a shower after writing this article.

Unfortunately, I'll probably be showering quite a bit during this postseason, as I, a huge Mets fan and self-proclaimed Yankee hater, will be rooting for the Evil Empire of the Bronx during the 2009 baseball playoffs.

Boston Red Sox: One Man's Plea for Just a Few More Days of Summer

This Article Originally Published at GetOutofMyBallpark.com.

There is no real fall in New England.

From Opening Day in April until the last out is made on the Boys of Summer, we have six (sometimes seven) glorious months of sunny days and warm temperatures. After that, it's all dark, cold, gray winter.

What's Up With That? Volume Five

The Los Angeles Angels were forced to watch helplessly as the Philadelphia Phillies rushed onto the field at the end of Game Seven to celebrate their second consecutive World Series championship, knowing the Phillies weren’t really the champions; they were.

Red Sox Playoffs: They've Been Here Before

Down 2-0 in a five-game series? Pshhhh, please. That's nothing. Try being down 3-0 to your blood rivals in the ALCS a year removed from them ripping your hearts out in Game Seven.

Sunday's Game Three against the Angels is just another day at Fenway Park...we hope.

This is getting to be old news for the Local Nine: down 3-1 in '04 against the afore-mentioned Yankees and down 3-1 in '07 against the Cleveland Indians - both World Series winning seasons. They were also down 3-1 in the ALCS last season but since they lost in Game 7, many forget the accomplishment.

For This Twins Team: No Regrets

As the Twins prepare their final stand in defense of their 2009 season tonight against the New York Yankees at the Metrodome, it's important Twins fans realize one thing: There are no expectations. There can be none.

There cannot be any regrets, lamentations or disappointments.

Win or lose, this team deserves celebrating.

Arizona Diamondbacks: An Unexpected Bonus

I am often asked, "Why do you buy season tickets to the Arizona Diamondbacks?"

The question usually results in me staring at the asker with the same incredulous look that I gave the guy who asked me why I thought it necessary to constantly breathe.

I am not suggesting that baseball tickets are as necessary as breathing.

Baseball tickets are much more important that that.

I've briefly considered having a bumper sticker created that simply states, "You can have my Diamondbacks tickets when you pry them from my cold dead fingers."

Come To Think Of It: It's Time The Dodgers Got Their Props

As the Los Angeles Dodgers finished their three-game sweep of the Cardinals, it occurred to me that this is one club whose success has seemed to be taken for granted.

Last year, as the Dodgers did the same to my Cubbies, most everything that was talked about and written seemed to focus on how poorly the Cubs played and very little, if any, respect was accorded the Dodgers for winning the series.

Rockies-Phillies Game 3 Postponed: MLB Gets the Victory Over Fans

When I first heard that game 3 of the NLDS between the Rockies and Phillies was postponed to tomorrow night, my immediate reaction was one of selfish discontent.

This would have been a great opportunity for the Rockies to get a victory over an ancient Pedro Martinez, who I'm sure will be glad to know he will now be able to hit up the Country Buffet for an early dinner and be in bed by 7:00.

Is Bobby Abreu The Best Offseason Signing?

There he was waiting for anyone to grab him. He was just sitting there, waiting for someone to make an offer. It wasn’t until February 11th that Bobby Abreu signed with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and he produced all right.

The former All Star signed a measly one-year, $5 million contract, compared to the $16 million he had made the previous year with the Yankees. Looking at all the offseason acquisitions, I really think Bobby Abreu was the best value.
