If it wasn't obvious before, it certainly is now: The San Diego Padres are going for it in 2015. Like, really going for it, so much so that they have acquired an entirely new starting outfield made up of Matt Kemp, Wil Myers and now Justin Upton—just in the past week.

The freshest batch of rumors is in, and the reports suggest that a couple of potent bats could be on the move in the months prior to spring training.

Several teams have been aggressive in reshaping their rosters. The Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago White Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, Oakland Athletics and San Diego Padres have been extremely busy upgrading and reshuffling in order to get the most talent on their respective rosters. The smartest teams use a mix of free agency and trades to make changes.

Since the day AT&T Park was officially open for business, the San Francisco Giants have been an attractive destination for pitchers because the stadium plays as one of the most pitcher-friendly parks in all of baseball.

If you thought the Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox were done signing players this offseason just because they respectively landed Jon Lester and Pablo Sandoval and Hanley Ramirez, think again.

Boston and Chicago are pursuing backup catchers, but they are not the only ones involved in rumors from around the league.

There's not much to talk about regarding hitters on Major League Baseball's offseason market. There was once, but signings and trades have taken care of that. They're all gone now. Mostly.

But pitchers? That's a different story.

Somewhere in a quiet corner of AT&T Park, San Francisco Giants general manager Brian Sabean pushes the record button on an R-2 unit and says, "Help us, Max Scherzer. You're our only hope."

The holiday season is here and the Mets are still in the midst of the current offseason. Not too many moves really need to be made at this point generally speaking, but that does not mean that any trade or free-agent possibilities should be ruled out by any means.

There is still a lot of time in the offseason to make some moves if general manger Sandy Alderson chooses to do so. Time will tell whether anything ends up occurring.

Multi-million dollar free-agent signings and blockbuster trades dominate the headlines during the MLB offseason, and understandably so, but there is something to be said for taking a chance on a low-risk, high-reward candidate.

The only downside of having so many things happen at the Winter Meetings last week is Major League Baseball didn't spread the wealth. Instead of free agents or teams waiting for a day or two in between all of their action, movement has been fairly quiet since everyone left San Diego.
