The Boston Red Sox have a lot of flaws in their bullpen.

However, things got worse when the Red Sox received word on Tuesday that reliever Andrew Miller would be having season-ending surgery.

The bat that St. Louis Cardinals backup first baseman Matt Adams packs at the plate has a reputation that precedes it.

Adams has demolished balls at every level of professional baseball. His lightning fast bat speed, combined with a tight swing and a good eye, is what have carried Adams to where he is today.

Little has been said of his glove—until now, that is.

There are three players that would bring in significant returns, and make headlines, if the Minnesota Twins traded them before the July 31 deadline: first baseman Justin Morneau, closer Glen Perkins and outfielder Josh Willingham.

According to a report from Patrick Mooney of CSNChicago.com, Chicago Cubs outfielder Alfonso Soriano is willing to waive his no-trade clause to join a team that wants his power bat, so expect the rumor mill to include the 37-year-old slugger's name for the majority of July.

"If you're going to make it as a pitcher, kid, you've gotta have a fastball. Develop a good one, and you'll go far."

I'm certain I had a little league coach tell me that once. You probably did too when you were in little league. Guys like Justin Verlander, Matt Harvey and Stephen Strasburg probably heard the same thing.

Under The Knife has always been about more than just listing the injuries around baseball. Sure, the focus is explaining the injury status of players like Albert Pujols, Derek Jeter and Ryan Howard, among others. But, it's also been about updating the injury status of MLB in general and taking opportunities to find ways to reduce or prevent injuries.
