When in doubt, hire yourself as President

It took almost an entire year of recruiting, but finally there is a President and CEO of the Toronto Blue Jays.

With the official announcement that Paul Beeston (pictured above) will in fact be the new President and CEO of the team, the good news is that Rogers won’t have to change the name plate on the President’s desk and send out that pesky “so and so is no longer with the company” email.

A Year in Retrospect with Scott Richmond

By now, you've probably already heard the story of how Scott Richmond overcame all odds and made his way into the major leagues by winning a spot in the starting rotation spot with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Where Were You 16 Years Ago, When Joe Carter Made History?

Today is a very special day—it's an occasion so momentous that it should almost be declared a national holiday in Canada.

It was this very day 16 years ago that Joe Carter solidified himself as one of the greatest Blue Jays of all time by taking a Mitch Williams pitch deep to ensure the World Series trophy would remain in Canada.

Alex Anthopoulos is Not the Best Choice Right Now

On the second last day of the Toronto Blue Jays disappointing 2009 season, the reign of J.P. Ricciardi mercifully came to an end.

Interim president, Paul Beeston, appointed assistant general manager, Alex Anthopoulos, as the team’s new general manager (GM).  There was no “interim” tag assigned to Anthopoulos’ title.  Was that appointment the best possible move for the Blue Jays?

Can David Purcey Rebound in 2010?

Much like we discussed Manny Parra yesterday (click here  to view), David Purcey was a pitcher who was on many people’s radar as a breakout candidate for 2009.  That clearly didn’t come to pass, however.  Besides his 6.19 ERA and 1.75 WHIP at the major league level, he struggled at Triple-A, posting a 4.46 ERA and 1.51 WHIP.

Stadium Review: The Rogers Centre in Toronto

This article was originally featured on www.stadiumjourney.com .

Back in 1989, the Rogers Centre (previously the Skydome) emerged as a modern marvel of architecture. Thanks to its retractable roof, after 20 years it still stands as one of the most unique ballparks in the majors.

Free Agent Wish List: Carlos Delgado

It seems like every hero gets a second chance at glory.

Rocky got another kick at the can, John McClain came out of retirement to kick some ass, and even good old Ma$e decided to return to the rap game. So why not have one of the most prolific Blue Jays return to claim his rightful throne? King Carlos, consider this your invitation back to Toronto.

Producing Results From the MLB Draft: A Case Study

Let me state first and for the record. I am not a statistician or a sabermatician. What follows is no doubt flawed in a number of ways. It is a "quick and dirty" snapshot albeit it was definitely not quick work.

Some caveats are obvious and I''ll try to mention them as appropriate but no doubt you may spot some I don't mention. Please be aware that I am aware of the limitations of this sort of thing.

Rob Ducey: The Cambridge Kid

A strange thing happened to me a few weeks ago during my stay in Cambridge, Ontario. While enjoying a nice dinner out at Applebee’s, I noticed what appeared to be a Blue Jays shrine at the back of the restaurant.

Shades of Spring in Fall: Toronto Blue Jays Finishing Strong

Do mine eyes deceive me, or are these the same Toronto Blue Jays from earlier this year?

For the second night in a row, Toronto's offense was firing on all cylinders and the starting pitching put forth a great effort to keep the team in the ballgame.

And Adam Lind is a beast.

If it wasn’t for Jonathan Papelbon’s plunking in the top of the ninth, Lind had a legitimate shot at hitting four home runs in one game.
