Fantasy Fallout: The Brian Fuentes Trade

There was a serious fantasy fallout with Brian Fuentes being traded to the Minnesota Twins on Friday. One player’s stock soared for the final month of the season and one player’s stock went down.

Let’s take a look at the Fuentes trade from a fantasy perspective.

Yankees Notes: Recap, Nova, and Injury Updates

Two things that have been going well for the Yankees lately, CC Sabathia and their bullpen, both struggled last night, but when your offense scores 12 runs those kind of things are forgiven.

Here are some notes:

Albert Pujols: Will His Support For Glenn Beck Hurt His Popularity?

Yes, I said support for Glenn Beck, it’s simple, if you go to an event you support it. Period.

Am I wrong?

Mr. Albert Pujols might have made the wrong choice, it is clear he had the right motive, the Hope award was given to Mr. Albert Pujols for his countless charitable work in the St. Louis community.

But why did the award had to be given in this venue?

He could of just received it in a quit ceremony before a game or at a charitable event with no political undertones.

Fantasy Baseball Two-Start Options: Week 22 (August 30: September 5)

It’s time to look at the potential two-start options for the upcoming fantasy week.  If I have someone rated as a three, four, or five-star option, they are someone I would definitely use.  A two-star option is someone who is borderline, but I’d strongly lean against it unless I have no other options.  The one-star options are an absolute no scenario.

So, with that said, let’s take a look at the players available to you this week—

Five-Star Options

LA Angels vs. Baltimore Orioles: Milwood Shuts Out Listless Halos

Baltimore Orioles pitcher Kevin Millwood has suffered through a nightmarish season, yet he still takes the ball every fifth day and gives his best effort. On Saturday night, against the Los Angeles Angels, Millwood's best effort turned into into his best start of the season.

Millwood scattered six hits over eight innings, and No. 9 hitter Josh Bell slammed a two-run homer, giving the Orioles a 5-0 victory over the suddenly punchless Angels.

Angels' Mike Napoli Claimed On Waivers (But Is A Deal Imminent)?

According to MLB sources and first reported by Jon Morosi and Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, an "unknown American League team" has claimed Halos first baseman/catcher Mike Napoli on waivers. The White Sox, Rays, or Tigers could be suitors.

Mets Close Out Home Stand, Trying to Get Back to .500

NEW YORK-- So far in the month of August, the Mets have been a classic .500 ballclub. They haven't gone on a winning streak or losing streak, but they have been just at or around .500.

Every day this month, the Mets have either been a game over, a game under, or exactly even. Entering today, they're one under at 64-65.

The last time the Mets spent an entire month at no better than one over and no worse than one under was April 1970. Meaning it's been over 40 years since the Mets have had a month this average.

Stephen Strasburg Goes Down Again

Update: The results of Strasburg’s MRI were not good. Strasburg was diagnosed with a tear in his ulner collateral ligament in his right elbow. Strasburg will most likely need Tommy John surgery and miss the 2011 season.

A couple of thoughts about this:

Minnesota Twins: Getting Closer(s) to The Postseason

On Friday the Minnesota Twins acquired Brian Fuentes from the Los Angeles Angels.

On Saturday Fuentes earned his first Twins' save against the Seattle Mariners. For Fuentes it was his 24th save of the season.

For the Minnesota Twins, Fuentes gives their bullpen a proven closer—that makes three proven closers since Joe Nathan injured his pitching shoulder in spring training.

Why Do the New York Yankees Keep Trusting A.J. Burnett?

If a New York Yankees fan is reading this, you might just go on to comment how dumb this is, saying how Burnett will turn things around.

Hold on a second, you can't disagree that he is the most inconsistent pitcher in all of baseball today.

I know how it hurts to hear it considering the fact that I'm a Yankees fan, but it's true.

With Burnett starting on the mound, you can see a no-hitter one day, and a one IP outing with five ER allowed the next. Though most of the time the second saying is what usually happens.
