Alex Anthopoulos Acquires Yunel Escobar

Alex Anthopoulos is continuing his revamping of the Toronto Blue Jays by trading star shortstop Alex Gonzalez to the Braves along with Tim Collins and Tyler Pastornicky in exchange for Jo-Jo Reyes and Yunel Escobar.

This is a great deal for the Blue Jays, as they get a player who is steadily improving defensively in Yunel Escobar while is very solid at the plate (somewhat rare for a SS). Anthopoulos thinks he's a great player and took the risk of acquiring him because great players are impossible to acquire if they're playing well (I wonder if Matt Cain is available).

Yunel Escobar Trade: Braves Trade Troubled Shortstop for Alex Gonzalez

The first significant trade of the season's second half went down today. The Atlanta Braves sent beleaguered shortstop Yunel Escobar to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for shortstop Alex Gonzalez.

The Braves also received left-hander Jo-Jo Reyes while the Blue Jays received two minor leaguers, shortstop Tyler Pastornicky and pitcher Tim Collins.

Chicago White Sox Midterm Grades

What a roller-coaster ride it has been.

From 9.5 games out and nine games under .500 to sole possession of first place thanks to a 25-5 record to close out the first half.

At 49-38, the White Sox are where many predicted the team to be before the season began, but no one could have predicted the road the team would take.

The White Sox have lost one series since June 1 with winning streaks of 11 and currently eight during this 30-game stretch.

MLB Trade Rumors: 5 Teams Interested in Trading for Adam Dunn

The Major League Baseball trading deadline grows closer by the day, and one of the hottest names burning up the hot stove is Nationals slugging first baseman Adam Dunn.

So far, the rumors surrounding Dunn have been sketchy at best. Also, there is some hesitancy as to the legitimacy of rumors considering Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo recently came out and said it would take an "extraordinary deal" to Dunn get out of D.C.

While that may be the case, there are five teams who are still going to try and boost their lineup with Dunn's big bat.
