One of the legendary baseball executives passed away today. At the age of 80, George Steinbrenner suffered a heart attack and died in a hospital in Tampa. It was a somber mood around baseball on the day of the All-Star Game, as everyone got the news of his death.

MLB Trade Rumors: Corey Hart to Tampa Bay Rays?

This will be quick.

Caught word today of some potential specifics regarding the rumored "seriousness" of the Tampa Bay Rays' interest in acquiring Milwaukee Brewers right-fielder, and 2010 All-Star starter, Corey Hart.

As everyone knows, the Brewers are looking for pitching in return for moving any pieces right now. Well, the Rays are said to be offering that and another piece.

MLB First Half Analysis: The Enigma That Is Daisuke Matsuzaka

For Daisuke Matsuzaka, the hype was unavoidable.

If it wasn't the $51 million posting bid that the Red Sox gave to the Seibu Lions, Matsuzaka's Japanese team until 2006, just to have the opportunity to negotiate a contract, it was the rumors of the dynamic stuff that Daisuke possessed.

Reports even surfaced regarding his ability to throw a legendary pitch known as the gyroball.

Fast forward almost three and a half years, and the general perception of Matsuzaka is very different.

Matsuzaka's time in Boston has been anything but consistent.

George Steinbrenner Dies: His 15 Best New York Yankees Players

The sports world lost a legend today, when former Yankees owner George Steinbrenner passed away at the age of 80.

While he was far from the most well liked figure in sports, you can't argue with his results, as he brought 11 AL Pennants and seven World Series titles to the Yankees, building them into a dynasty in the late 1990s.

Having taken the reigns in 1973, Steinbrenner saw a great numbers of players play under him in over 30 seasons as team owner, and what follows are the 15 best Yankees of the Steinbrenner era.

Jeff Francoeur: An Intriguing Character

I have seen a lot of posts on Twitter this year about Jeff Francoeur—about how terrible he is and how he should never play another game. I always find a way to defend him, if possible. The main reason is that I don’t think the naysayers were saying that at the start of the season when he was on fire.

Originally, the plan was for Carlos Beltran to be in center field when he returned, with Francoeur and Angel Pagan alternating in right field.

Changes Looming: The Future of Major League Baseball

Bud Selig must wonder what the future has in store for him and MLB, after all there are many things that come up and will continue to come up in discussions such as Instant Replay, Inter-league Play, Performance Enhanching drugs issues, Realignment was something in pondered back in March, All-Star Game, and so on. I certainly don't expect any major changes to happen for the rest of Bud Selig's tenure unless he wants to go out with a bang and make some last minute changes sort of like how a lame-duck President does pardons right as he hands to keys off to the next guy.

All Star 2010:Ubaldo Jimenez Leads What Should Be Three Colorado Rockies

Ubaldo Jimenez is without a doubt the best pitcher in all of Major League Baseball this season.

His 15-1 record is easily the top mark in the majors, while his 2.20 ERA is fifth best among pitchers with 10+ decisions.

His three complete games include a no-hitter versus the Atlanta Braves, which is the first ever in the Colorado Rockies’ 18-year franchise history.
