Bruce Bochy isn't the worst manager in San Francisco Giants history.

That designation is reserved for a man most modern day fans have never heard of, who was scouting for the club when a mid-season manager's change suddenly put him in control.

Where Bochy ranks among the best to manage the Giants in San Francisco is open for debate.

The Colorado Rockies are used to it. They are the lone team that plays in the Mountain Time zone. Therefore, games on the east coast are wrapping up when they start, and games on the west coast are underway shortly after the Rockies start.

Oakland Athletics pitcher Dallas Braden is famous for being protective of his pile of dirt. Especially if you trot over it on your way off the field.

Javier Vazquez entered Monday’s game as the only Yankees starter with a losing record. Not only did he improve his record to the .500 mark, but he also won for the first time in more than three weeks.

Vazquez limited Oakland to one run over seven innings as New York topped Oakland, 3-1, Monday night at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.

The New York Yankees have a rising superstar in their mitts, with Brett Gardner .

Baseball's All-Star Game is in Los Angeles/Anaheim... I'm not really sure where the LAAA's actually play.  Either way, players from all over the league will get to see the Beach Boy's and Katy Perry's favorite girls.

One player, however, will not. His name?

Joey Votto.

How is it that baseball can never, ever, get anything right?  Most of us have heard the stats by now, but for those of us that haven't here's a quick recap:

Votto's batting average? .318. That's tied for third in the NL.

The last time the National League won an All-Star game was in 1996.

Back then, the Braves were represented by John Smoltz (who got the win), Tom Glavine, Greg Maddux, Mark Wohlers, Fred McGriff, and Chipper Jones.

The Braves will again be represented by a handful of players this year. Jason Heyward, Martin Prado, Tim Hudson, and Brian McCann were all expected (at least somewhat) by fans.

Mets fans who didn’t know it tonight found out that this year, umpires are jokes.

Plain and simple.

I have not seen a bigger joke my entire life, and hopefully won’t the rest of my life. After tonight, I have to ask, what constitutes a situation where umpires can confer and possibly overturn a call?

Can someone, preferably MLB, explain that to me? Why was there no conference of umpires in Armando Galarraga ’s near perfect game yet there was one in tonight’s Mets game?

Jerry Meals is probably being given a free meal by the Reds. Is that an overreaction statement?

Yes. Does he deserve it? Yes.

Mike Pelfrey did not have his greatest game tonight, but the wheels came off in the 5th inning. I wonder if it’s a reaction to the terrible decision by Jerry Meals.
