Orioles southpaw Brian Matusz pitched shutout ball for seven innings at Fenway Park this afternoon, leading the Baltimore Orioles to a rare win in Boston, beating the Red Sox, 6-1. He held the Red Sox to two hits — one each in the third and fourth innings — while walking three and striking out seven in earning his first win since April 18th. He had lost his last nine decisions.

Fantasy Baseball Prospect Tracker: Kyle Drabek Tosses No-Hitter

Kyle Drabek is one of the top pitching prospects in baseball.  The son of former Cy Young Award winner Doug Drabek, Kyle showed just how capable he is yesterday, throwing a complete game no-hitter.  In fact, according to Minor League Baseball’s website, he has now gone 13.1 innings without allowing a hit.

Fans Expecting Too Much From Johan Santana

This particular type of talk in the Mets fan base has seemed to die down a bit, but there was a period of time within the last few weeks that the gradual deterioration of Johan Santana's stuff was fairly noticeable. It seemed Mets fans were pouncing on him from every direction just to put him down.

The point is, even now that he's gotten things back together a bit, what you see is what you get with an aging pitcher coming off of surgery. It is concerning that Mets fans have been getting on his case so much.

2010 NL All-Star Rosters: Why the Phillies Aren't Going to the World Series

It can now be said without a doubt that the Philadelphia Phillies will not be making their third straight trip to the World Series this October.

Or at least their manager, Charlie Manuel, seems to think they won't.

Why else would he do such a preposterous job of selecting his All-Star pitching staff and reserves?

As we all know, the Dumbest Rule in Professional Sports mandates that the winner of the MLB All-Star Game gets home field advantage in the World Series.

Fantasy Baseball July 4th Preview: Gallardo, Teixeira & More

While everyone was enjoying their fireworks and BBQ, there was plenty of news coming from the baseball diamond.  Yovani Gallardo was forced to leave his start before finishing three innings.  Mark Teixeira could finally be heating up.  Torii Hunter had a huge night.

Life Is Not Grand-erson: First Half Woes Continue

The biggest signing of the 2009 Winter Meetings was of course a deal that involved the New York Yankees.

A three-way trade between the New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers, and the Arizona Diamondbacks was the most intriguing, a deal that included the following players;

Felix Hernandez and Fantasy Baseball's Two-Start Pitchers for Week 14

Fantasy Baseball’s Pitching Line of the Week

Felix Hernandez (SP-SEA): 9 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 11 K, W

Felix Hernandez of the Seattle Mariners pitched a complete game two-hitter in the Bronx this Wednesday in what was his best start of the 2010 season to date.

He fanned every starter on the Yankees roster with the exception of first half MVP candidate Robinson Cano. Additionally, Derek Jeter, Mark Teixeira, and Alex Rodriguez each struck out twice against King Felix.

2010 MLB All-Star Rosters: Breaking Down the American League

The 2010 season has been an exciting one, in case you haven't noticed. There have been two perfect games*, a couple of no-hitters, and rookie phenoms Jason Heyward, Stephen Strasburg, and Mike Stanton dominating headlines.

On July 13, the best players that step onto the field will come together at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Today, rosters were announced, and there were some questionable picks as to who wasn't invited to the roster.

This slideshow examines the American League and who got snubbed.
