Previewing The Exciting Blue Jays Vs Cardinals Pitching Matchups

The Toronto Blue Jays will look to continue the roll they got on last week tonight against the St. Louis Cardinals. After taking two of three from both the Padres and Giants last week the Jays have another three game set with the Cards. While much of the attention is sure to be on Albert Pujols and Matt Holliday the pitching matchups are exceptional.

Stephen Strasburg In The All-Star Game? Ridiculous.

Stephen Strasburg is one of the most hyped pitchers baseball has seen in a long time. So far, he's shown his dominance in his first three outings, and seems to be living up to the hype. In fact, some columnists, such as MLB.com's Mike Bauman, are saying that Strasburg should be in the All-Star game on July 13.

JD Stands For Just Disabled: Drew Taking The Wrong Time Off

The Boston Red Sox will return to the site of their last World Championship tonight to open a set with the Colorado Rockies, and they will do so without the services of J.D. Drew, who was apparently placed on the disabled list today after tweaking a hamstring last week.

Consider that “the other shoe.”

Matt Kemp, Ryan Braun Lead 2010 MLB 30 HR/30 SB Candidates

Power and Speed, two of the five essential “tools” or skills that baseball players are said to possess, and they are lethal when combined. Players like Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Bobby Bonds, Dale Murphy, Barry Bonds*, Daryl Strawberry, Alex Rodriguez, Alfonso Soriano and Hanley Ramirez all have used their unique combination of power and speed to join one of the most elite fraternities in Major League Baseball. The 30/30 Club.

Fantasy Baseball Prospect Report: Mark Trumbo

With Kendry Morales’ season officially coming to an end, it’s interesting that there hasn’t been more focus put on Mark Trumbo, the Angels’ slugging first base prospect at Triple-A.  While Trumbo isn’t the same player Morales is, he certainly has the potential to be a contributor in the middle of the Angels lineup.

Let’s take a look at his production through Thursday:

Buy or Sell: Don't Let Scott Kazmir's Sparkling June Fool You

While Angels’ southpaw Scott Kazmir struggled with a 7.20 and 5.97 ERA in April and May respectively, the 26-year-old has seemingly salvaged his season with a deceiving June.

In 23 innings (four starts) this month, Kazmir is 4-0 with a 2.35 ERA. What most fail to see is his 1.35 WHIP and 13/15 K/BB ratio, both of which raise red flags.

Los Angeles Dodgers Hot Stove: Examining the Trade Possibilities

It's almost impossible to explain the true essence of the authentic Los Angeles Dodgers fan. The average baseball follower around the league has a stereotypical opinion about a genuine Dodger supporter, but that average follower doesn't understand at all. True Dodger fans get hooked; there's a clean-cut, majestic wholesomeness about them. They Think Blue, Bleed Blue, and they'll talk until they're Blue in the face.

All that being said, that same Dodger enthusiast is impatient. Successful performance is a must.

Lou Gehrig: An Underrated New York Yankee Legendary Ballplayer

The term underrated is thrown around quite frequently. It can be used to describe pretty much any situation, but is most often used for sports figures and their on-field exploits.

Yesterday, June 21st, was the 71st anniversary of Lou Gehrig's retirement. While Gehrig removed himself from the Yankee lineup prior to the game on May 2, 1939, he remained with the team as captain for another six weeks.

The Yankees Farm System is Exciting Again

The Gulf Coast League is a little talked about league because they are below even Single-A.  It is rookie ball, and often the players are so far away from the majors that it makes little sense to discuss them.

MLB Trade Rumors: Minnesota No Longer a Small Market

For as long as I can remember, the Twins have been a small market team. Rare were blockbuster trades or multi-year signings for the Minnesota teams of the past few decades.

All of that changed this season. With a new stadium expected to bring a revenue increase, and an owner who isn't afraid to spend some cash, the Twins had one of their most expensive offseasons in franchise history. By bringing in JJ Hardy, Orlando Hudson, and Clay Condrey, as well as extending Carl Pavano and Joe Mauer, the Twins gave a clear message to their fans: We're no longer a small market.
