Fantasy Baseball Around the Majors, June 22: Rollins, Holliday, and More

Jimmy Rollins and Coco Crisp returned from the DL to slide back into the leadoff spot.  Jason Castro made his major league debut.   Matt Holliday may be the hottest player in baseball.  Let’s look at these stories and all the rest from yesterday’s games:

New York Mets Go for Another Interleague Series Win with R.A. Dickey Pitching

After an offensive outburst last night—their biggest since 2008, scoring 14 runs—the Mets will hand the ball to knuckleballer R.A. Dickey tonight. The Mets are 10-3 so far in interleague play and will go for the series win against Jeremy Bonderman and the Detroit Tigers.

Forget Cliff Lee, New York Mets Fans: Roy Oswalt is the Man for this Team

You know by now that there are two pretty appetizing starting pitching options on the Mets' radar right now.

Those two, obviously, are Cliff Lee and Roy Oswalt.  Both are outstanding pitchers on underachieving teams that are trying to dump them in order to clear payroll or to acquire young talent.

But which one is better for the Mets, both for now and down the road?

Stephen Strasburg To Be Surprise Inductee Into 2010 Hall of Fame Class

Washington Nationals phenom pitcher Stephen Strasburg can add another title to his young and blossoming career, Hall of Famer. Despite his career just getting started, Strasburg has been announced as a surprise additional inductee into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

On the final weekend of July, the rookie pitcher will join outfielder Andre Dawson, umpire Doug Harvey, and manager Whitey Herzog as the newest class of the Hall of Fame.

MLB Trade Rumors: A.L. East Buyers And Sellers

With the non-waiver trade deadline just over a month away, the rumor mill machine is starting to build considerable steam.

Once again the A.L. East is the most competitive division in baseball with the Yankees, Red Sox and Rays in a triple threat death match for the pennant.

But hold on, the Toronto Blue Jays are making some serious noise as well.

With an exciting young pitching staff and a hodge podge offense that hacks now, ask questions later, the Jays are literally bombing their way into contention.

What will these teams do to improve their post-season chances?

MLB: Two Potential Trade Targets for the Atlanta Braves

I know, I know.

The Braves are a first place team with good vibrations all around.

They've been one of the best teams in the game since the beginning of May and really lack any substantial holes in their line-up.

But...I like to think ahead.

And, right now, I'm thinking about how Frank Wren and Company can improve the National League's top run-scoring offense.

There are a couple of different routes the Braves could pursue to achieve this.

Los Angeles Angels Insider.com: Vin Scully Podcast

Legendary Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully talks with "Angels on Air" hosts Jeff Biggs and Jason Brennan on a variety of Angel- and Dodger-related topics.

Vin also gives us his opinion on the three worst decisions in Dodger history.

Eight-Run Third Leads New York Mets To Big Win Over Detroit Tigers

NEW YORK— It was muggy, there was a huge thunderstorm, but none of that slowed the Mets down on Tuesday night. Facing Detroit Tigers' ace Justin Verlander, after not scoring in 15 straight innings against the Yankees, the Mets' bats exploded.

They put up two quick runs in the first after the first two batters. Jose Reyes dribbled one to third and beat out a hit, Angel Pagan drove him in with a long triple to center. He then scored on a David Wright sacrifice fly, making it 2-0, but the Mets were just getting started.

Future Star: Justin Upton Leads Diamondbacks Past Yankees

As a fan of the New York Yankees, an American League East team, it is easy to forget about the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The last time the two faced each other was back in 2007, at the old Yankee Stadium.

Looking at the bigger picture, the D-backs pose no real threat to the Yankees, whose hopes are to repeat as World Series Champions.
