With every passing day, the deeper we get into the baseball season, it appears the Mets are here to stay. No longer are we around Memorial Day, as we are now heading towards July 1.

With the Mets win last night, coupled with the Braves loss to the White Sox, the Mets now trail the Braves by .5 games in the NL East, and they have a 1.5 game lead in the NL Wild Card race.

It was definitely not the most well-played game ever, but it was an instant classic for the 2010 season—at least for the Yankees, anyway.

The Bombers went into the ninth inning trailing 5-4. Derek Jeter and Nick Swisher both walked to lead off the inning against Aaron Heilman. Mark Teixeira’s ground ball moved them to second and third, and A-Rod hit a sacrifice fly to score Jeter.

The Minnesota Twins are tired of running headlong into the buzzsaw that is the New York Yankees. This is the team that has beaten the Twins in the playoffs three separate times during the managerial reign of Ron Gardenhire.  

In their new 2010 Target Field, the Twins want to win the whole thing this season. They have a potent offense, led by three-time batting champion and 2009 MVP Joe Mauer and former MVP Justin Morneau.

Between the Seattle Mariners, the Seattle Seahawks and the Portland Trail Blazers, there is a lot of talent but the teams are not consistent. Here are the top players currently playing the northwest.

They could play phenomenally from here on out and salvage their seasons, but right now they are giving their fantasy owners ulcers every time they go 0-for-4, blow a save, or get torched for seven runs in four innings.

Let's take a trip to the past and revisit players of lore and others who played kind of poor(ly). Our first look is at John Emil Jaha. He was a 14th round selection of the Brewers in the 1984 draft.

He spent seven years with the Brew Crew and made his first appearance with the club in 1992. He wasn't the greatest player ever, but he did have the ability to hit the long ball. He hit 105 home runs with the Brewers in his stay with the team including his top year of 34 home runs and 118 RBI.

Back in mid-May when R.A. Dickey made his debut with the Mets, many fans didn't know what to expect. Those who had heard of Dickey probably didn't expect much, considering they were likely aware of the knuckleballer and his career ERA of 5.43.

With his unconventional style, Dickey has ended up turning the heads of Mets fans and baseball fans alike, as a part of the new look New York Mets rotation.
