What Are The Detroit Tigers Waiting For?

As it stands, the Detroit Tigers sit atop the American League Central Division with a modest two-game lead.  Yet, looks can be deceiving when you look at the AL Central.

This is definitely the worst division in the majors, with no team standing far above the others.  At this point, the Tigers, Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox are the three teams that will contend for the division championship.

Now, it should be known that I'm not here to promote certain players that the Detroit Tigers should go after or players that they should look to trade, but I am here to question the team's motive as they head into the All Star Break.

Does this team want to win or are they content with being a mediocre team?

If the latter be the case, then you can stop reading here.  Otherwise, you may continue on reading and wonder the same things that I am wondering.

Why haven't the Tigers made a move to try and extend their division lead and fill some weak areas in the depth chart?

There are certain players like Washington Nationals' outfielder Adam Dunn and Milwaukee Brewers' outfielder Corey Hart who have been rumored to be on the Tigers' wish list, but there haven't been any serious discussions with either team about a deal.

It is apparent that a proven outfielder is among the top priorities for the team at the deadline and bringing a power hitter like Dunn could prove to be the missing ingredient.

However, the Tigers don't have many pieces that they can part with.  With a young, diminished farm system and no surplus players within the big league team, it is unknown as to what other teams may be interested in.

Like I said, this is more of a question than an article.  I am curious to see how others feel about the Tigers' lack of change in a thus far mediocre season.
