The Roy Oswalt Trade Benefits Both the Astros and Phillies

Every year, there's always one move around the trade deadline that affects the rest of the MLB season or even the playoffs.

Much like last year when the Phillies acquired Cliff Lee in July, they made a move for this year's best available pitcher: Roy Oswalt.

MLB Trade Rumors: Edwin Jackson on the Verge of Heading To White Sox

Late last night word got out that the White Sox and Diamondbacks are close to agreeing on a deal that would send Daniel Hudson along with a minor league pitcher to the Diamondbacks for Edwin Jackson .

On the surface this seems like a logical deal for each team. With Jackson the Sox would be getting a more experienced version of Daniel Hudson and a guy who would instill a little more confidence when he takes the mound down the stretch.

Roy Oswalt Leaves Astros For Phillies: Was It A Smart Move?

Well, the news is all over the airwaves in Houston and it is official.

Pitcher Roy Oswalt has officially accepted the trade to the Philadelphia Phillies.

Roy Oswalt, Domonic Brown Keep Philadelphia Phillies Faithful...

By tomorrow night, Roy Oswalt will take the mound in a Philadelphia uniform.

After the 32-year-old ace dropped his no trade clause and accepted the trade from the Houston Astros to the Philadelphia Phillies, Oswalt joins a team dedicated to winning.

That is exactly what Oswalt was looking for, and he may be exactly what the Phillies need in order to win their second World Series in three years.

The Phillies were the clear winner in this trade with the Astros, as Philly received one of the best pitchers in the league, along with $11 million.

2010 MLB Trade Rumors: Adam Dunn to Tampa Bay Rays a Dunn Deal?

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Tampa Bay Rays are currently the "favorites" to land the Washington Nationals first baseman Adam Dunn.

Is there really another deal that makes this much sense?

The Rays could use another slugger. Dunn could use the playoff spotlight to propel himself to a major contract in the off-season.

So why does this deal seem almost too good to be true?

Welcome Roy Oswalt: You're Not In Texas Anymore!

I feel obligated to snap this off tonight.  The Tex Mex Phillies aka Astros are a much different team and Roy Oswalt deserves some advice upon his arrival.  Considering Houston is like our second home I would like to help him adjust once he gets to Philly (he pitches tomorrow night at the Nats for anyone who has been asleep).

Big Texas Howdy, Roy!  I hope this helps you as much as you will help us on our quest to the World Series!

Geren Leaves Mazzaro in Too Long, A's Get Burned

The Oakland A's came in tonight's game against the American League West division leading Texas Rangers, but yet again the A's were burned by a pitcher being left in a game too long.

Vin Mazzaro didn't have an easy time with the Rangers lineup. At one point Michael Young, Vladimir Guerrero, and Josh Hamilton combined to go 6-6. The telling stat though is the fact in five and a third innings Mazzaro gave up 12 hits!

Detroit Tigers Buying When They Should Be Selling

The Tigers made a trade Wednesday evening to acquire a Jhonny when they should have been trying to sell a Johnny.

David Dombrowski may yet earn the other spelling of his name.

The Tigers floundered yet again Wednesday night, falling yet again to the Tampa Bay Rays.

The loss puts the Tigers at 51-49, in third place in the American League Central, five games back of the Chicago White Sox.

Can We Now Stop Complaining About The Nate McLouth Trade?

For those that haven't been paying much attention, your once favorite player Nate McLouth was sent down to the minors by the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday.  Can we please now quit complaining about the trade?

After being dealt away from Pittsburgh, McLouth just wasn't very good for Atlanta, especially this year where he was hitting .168 on the season.  I've said it before and I will say it again.  Being the best player on a bad team makes you nothing more than that.
