Derrek Lee: Welcome Back!

On Thursday, the Chicago Cubs offense dragged itself from the grave to score four runs on back-to-back home runs from Derrek Lee and Geovany Soto against their crosstown rival White Sox and eventually won on a walk-off single in the ninth inning.

On Friday, the offense took six innings off again, only to rally back from what started as a 7-0 deficit to the visiting Cleveland Indians. The Cubs scored four runs in the eighth inning before, in a moment of poetic injustice, longtime Cubs hero Kerry Wood was taken out of the yard by Lee to tie the game in the ninth inning.

The Pitcher to Save the Milwaukee Brewers' Season

It became obvious during their series with the Cleveland Indians that the biggest need for the Milwaukee Brewers is starting pitching. Unfortunately, trying to find that pitcher to acquire is going to be much easier said than done.

There are good options, bad options, and options that are more wishful thinking than anything that could be reality.

Phillies-Blue Jays Finale: The Sequel to Benchwarmers?

First, let’s look on the bright side.

Orioles: Bergesen Not Leader of The Cavalry, But...

Brad Bergesen throws a fastball in the low 90's and he has only had one good year in the minor leagues.

You wouldn't expect he'd be a guy who can come in to the major leagues and have good starts against teams like the Mariners, Tigers, White Sox, and Yankees.

However, so far, the 23-year old Fairfield, CA native has done just that for the O's as a rookie. Bergesen has a 4-2 record, a 3.79 ERA and has collected 33 strikeouts while talllying a WHIP of 1.26, and pitched his first complete game on Sunday.

Sometimes, Love Blooms in the Strangest Places

Did you hear about the rose that grew
from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature’s law is wrong it
learned to walk with out having feet.
Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams,
it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete
when no one else ever cared.

It's Not All in the Hips, It's All in the Numbers

Steroid users are not hard to locate. There is no need for MapQuest because the yellow brick road will always lead you to the numbers.

WebMD descriptions of a steroid user: ginormous head, a back that looks like a pubescent face, bicep veins that resemble zippers, breaking bats over one's leg after every at-bat solely to release rage, and of course, what every man knows about—improvement in strength.

You thought I meant shrinkage of testicles, didn't you? Grow up and get your head out of the gutter (Tiny balls...hilarious).

Yankees-Nationals: Wang Earns Another Start, But Yanks Fall Short in Ninth

They just didn't have another one in them.

A day after the Yankees completed their 22nd come-from-behind victory, the Bombers stranded the tying run at third in the ninth to fall 3-2 to the Washington Nationals.

Robinson Cano, who tied a career-high with four hits on Tuesday, stepped to the plate with the game on the line Wednesday. All he needed to do was hit a lazy fly ball to the outfield to score the speedy Bret Gardner to tie the game. But on the ninth pitch of the at bat, he bounced into a 6-4-3 double play to end the contest.

'09 Atlanta Braves: The Ron Paul of Baseball

I'm sure many of you were captivated by the 2008 presidential election. I sure was. In December of '07 there were many contenders for the highest seat in the free world. As time went along, however, the numbers continually dwindled until there were only a few legitimate candidates.

Usually in a presidential election cycle, Super Tuesday, in February, is the culmination of the process. On Super Tuesday in 2008, Republican primary contender Ron Paul thought he had a real chance against the likes of John McCain, Mike Huckabee, and Mitt Romney.
