Yankees' Struggles Open Door for Chapman Deal

Per Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, the Yankees "will trade" Chapman "if things don't turn" around before the August 1 non-waiver trade deadline. 

The Toronto Blue Jays and first baseman Justin Smoak came to terms on a two-year contract extension with an option for the 2019 campaign Saturday.

According to Barry Davis of Sportsnet, the deal will pay Smoak $4.125 million in each of the first two years, and the third-year option is worth $6 million. There is also a $250,000 buyout included in the pact.

Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz may be headed for retirement after the 2016 season, but his thoughts about the future of the team's roster could land him in hot water with MLB.
