Is Baseball's Hot Stove Season More Exciting Than the Regular Season?

Out of every sport, baseball is the one I go furthest back with.

Why Garrett Atkins Makes Sense for the Baltimore Orioles

On Monday, I profiled some of the potential landing spots for Garrett Atkins, who was non-tendered by the Rockies.

I expected the Orioles to be one of the main suitors for Atkins' services given their need for a third baseman and a power hitter. As I wrote at the time:

After Lee, Seattle Mariners Should Floor It and Make a Move For Adrian Gonzalez

The first piece of what has now become a historic four team blockbuster trade between the Mariners, Blue Jays, Phillies, and Athletics has now become official.

The Seattle Mariners have officially acquired Philadelphia Phillies ace and Cy Young winner Cliff Lee in exchange for top pitching prospect Phillipe Aumont, P JC Ramirez, and OF Tyson Gillies.

Someone Failed a Phsyical in the Halladay-Lee Four-Team Trade

For those of you who read The Ghost of Moonlight Graham on a regular basis are probably wondering why I have not yet even written a sentence about one of the biggest trades in recent memory.

What is going on today is the reason why.

There have been rumors circulating around the web that one of the players involved in the four-team trade between the Seattle Mariners, Philadelphia Phillies, Toronto Blue Jays, and Oakland A’s has failed his physical.

Boston Red Sox Big Day: John Lackey and Mike Cameron Signings

(Originally posted on 4SportBoston.com )

In two moves shocking to both the fans in Boston and Major League Baseball alike, the Red Sox inked starting pitcher John Lackey to a five-year, $82.5 million deal. This evening, the Sox made a second splash of the day with a two-year, $15.5 million deal.

What direction is this team heading in?

Mike Cameron Signs with Boston and Ends the Jason Bay Era

Jason Bay? Nope.

Matt Holliday? Pass.

The Boston Red Sox balked at the sticker price on the two marquee left fielders on the market and went a different route by reportedly signing veteran center fielder Mike Cameron.

The signing—which is currently pending a physical—further solidifies the end of the Jason Bay era in Boston and by all accounts should spell the end of any more Matt Holliday to Boston rumors.

A-Rod Minus K-Hud and Other New York Yankees Superstitions

Most athletes have good luck charms and superstitions.

Lucky socks. Not changing their underwear. Rally monkeys. Beards during playoffs.

But Alex Rodriguez had a lucky charm and superstition in one, according to Yankees fans anyway.

Kate Hudson was the “thing” that made A-Rod great in the 2009 season, helping him lead the Yankees to win the World Series.

Seattle Mariners Acquire Cliff Lee in Blockbuster Deal

The Seattle Mariners are part of a three team deal with the Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies that will send Roy Halladay to the Phillies, and net the Mariners All Star and Cy Young award winning pitcher Cliff Lee.

After losing out on All Star CF Curtis Granderson in the one blockbuster trade completed at the Winter Meetings between the Yankees, Tigers, and Diamondbacks, Jack Zdureincik smartly held off of the Tigers ridiculously high asking price of P Phillipe Aumont, P Brandon Morrow, and P Shawn Kelley, to start negotiations for Granderson.

Philadelphia Phillies Swap Aces: What's the Deal?

This morning I got up and saw that Roy Halladay was in Philadelphia with his agent.  The second I saw that I got the same exact feeling I got on July 29 when rumors started swirling about a deal for Cliff Lee.

Well today it looks like the Cliff Lee era in Philadelphia is all but over.  Rumors all across the Internet, from ESPN to Sports Illustrated to Twitter and to blogs like my own have the Phillies involved in a three-team trade.  This deal would send Roy Halladay to the Phillies and Cliff Lee to the Mariners while both teams would send prospects to the Blue Jays.
