Chicago White Sox pitcher Chris Sale nearly matched a single-game franchise record in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Chicago Cubs, falling just one strikeout shy of the 16 recorded by Jack Harshman on July 25, 1954 against the Boston Red Sox, per ESPN Stats & Info.

No matter the situation, Matt Harvey wants the ball in his hand. It's an admirable trait to have an unyielding competitive streak running through his veins, and it's not something that can be taught. You either have it or you don't.

The team is getting hot at the right time. 

Momentum is such a fickle thing in Major League Baseball.

While the narrative and storyline that comes along with it feed the public’s interest and make for good radio, column and bar-stool fodder, the truth is momentum in that sport shifts from day to day, inning to inning and even batter to batter. All the momentum in the world—negative and positive—can be altered by one misplaced pitch, a swat of a hanging breaking ball or the twirling of a gorgeous complete game.

The Miami Marlins' disappointing season has gotten worse, as star outfielder Christian Yelich has landed on the disabled list with a knee injury.

Per the Marlins' official Twitter, Marcell Ozuna has been called up to take Yelich's spot after he was placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to August 10.
