What the Toronto Blue Jays Can Bring to the 2010 Trade Market

The Arizona Diamondbacks and Oakland A's unofficially kicked off the 2010 pre-deadline trading activity this week. With the D-Backs running up the white flag on 2010 and putting out word that almost everyone on their roster can be had, the trade market should be on the verge of getting busy. The Kansas City Royals are also putting it out there that they too are willing to shop several of their veteran pieces.

Yankees Sign Eric Bruntlett

According to the Scranton/Wilkes Barre Yankees , the Yankees have signed infielder Eric Bruntlett to a minor league deal, and he is expected to play in Triple-A Scranton tonight.

Could Ubaldo Jimenez Be The Next Pitcher To Win 30 Games?

Watching Ubaldo Jimenez is strange.

At times he looks like a power pitcher, inducing strikeouts one after the other. At other times, he seems like an efficiency pitcher, inducing ground ball double plays when his W is on the line. The type of pitcher he is though, doesn't seem to matter any more.

What does matter, is that he is helping to keep an average, if not below average at times, Rockies club in the NL West race. As a fellow Bleacher Reporter put it, the Rockies are the definition of "Meh" this year. They don't look good, but they don't look Mendoza either.

Ubaldo Jimenez Does What He Does, Dominates Twins

The story is the same one every fifth day, it seems. Ubaldo Jimenez once again dominates an opponent. On Thursday afternoon, the Rockies salvaged the final game of a three game series, winning 5-1.

Bob Geren and His Legendary Incompetency Continues to Grow

Today continues the legacy of Bob Geren's incompetency as the Oakland Athletics manager. How he got invited to be one of the managers in the all-star game by Joe Girardi is beyond me.

There's no manager in baseball as clueless as Geren is! Today's game is just another fine example of just how clueless Geren is on the bench.

Game 66: Yankees vs. Phillies

Pablo Sandoval's Sophomore Slump

Almost as surely as flowers bloom in the spring, great young hitters slump in their second full seasons in the major leagues.  Well, maybe not with that much certainty, but it’s probably more common than not, particularly if you include a few spill-over stars who slumped significantly in their third (Chipper Jones in 1997) or fourth full seasons (Barry Bonds in 1989).

Wrigley Field Becoming Just Another Stadium

No matter how bad the product was on the field, people flooded to Wrigley Field to see...well...the field.

It brought baseball fans to what seemed like a different decade or even a different century to see a day game with an organ playing and no flashy scoreboard or advertisements to divert the eyes of those of whom have no attention span.

Granted, the crowd still has cell phones to do that, but the field itself would have no part in helping take away from the experience of the old generation of baseball.

Cincinnati Reds: Tiptoeing Through the Tulips

Sounds lame, but that's exactly what the Cincinnati Reds are doing right now until they can find some consistency. They aren't playing awful, but the aren't exactly playing the best baseball either.

MLB Draft Update: Los Angeles Dodgers Sign Ralston Cash, Leon Landry

In what was thought to be a difficult signing season for Los Angeles Dodgers' draftees, the team made deals with second round pick Ralston Cash and third round selection Leon Landry on Wednesday.

The details of the contracts are unknown, as many of the deals are sometimes kept under tight wraps until the signing deadline passes on August 16.

According to the Gainsville Times, a newspaper in Georgia, Cash will complete his deal by the end of the week, and upon signing will immediately be dispatched to begin pitching in the Arizona rookie league.
