Kansas City Royals Get All-Star Game in 2012

The Kansas City Royals finally have something to celebrate. The commissioner has awarded Kansas City the 2012 All-Star Game.

The Royals haven't made the playoffs in 25 years, just missing the playoffs in the 1995 season. But now the team will finally be able to have some true acknowledgement by all of baseball.

The team which had a former All-Star Game MVP in Bo Jackson (1989) and former star George Brett, will be hosting the event from the newly revamped Kauffman Stadium.

The Current Pittsburgh Pirates Team Is Bad But They Our Finally Our Team

I am a new writer to the Pittsburgh Pirates page but not a new writer to this site. I have lived in Pittsburgh all my life and have only been a Pirate fan for three years.

I am 20 years old and soon to be 21 in August. As everyone knows about the losing streak, that means I don’t ever recall a good Pirates team.

I got hooked on the Pirates when I bought a 10 game pack and started to attend games in 2008. Funny enough I originally got the 10 game pack to make sure I would have a ticket to one of the Yankee games.

Martin Prado vs. Chase Utley: Who Should Start at Second for the NL?

It sounds funny, doesn't it?

Chase Utley is being challenged for the starting job at second base for this year’s National League All-Star team.

Up until this year, that was a preposterous thought, but seemingly out of the woodwork.

2010 MLB All-Star Game: Who Should Pitch in the Battle of the Best?

On July 13, MLB's best players will take a break from their normal schedules to square off at Angel Stadium in the 81st Midsummer Classic.

Fans have been voting for their favorite position players for quite some time: Albert Pujols is the obvious pick for NL first baseman, and Joe Mauer is the overwhelming favorite for AL catcher.

Baseball worshipers hope to see their teams' leaders hit the long ball every time they enter the batter's box.

But who will pitch to these super sluggers?

That part of the whole shebang is up to All-Star managers Charlie Manuel and Joe Girardi.

Philadelphia Phillies' Struggles Prove Jimmy Rollins' Importance

So, let's do the math. Heading into tonight's game, the Philadelphia Phillies were 9-3 with Jimmy Rollins in the game, and 23-27 without him.

Additionally, the hometown team has outscored opponents 74-35 with him, but have been outscored 226-201 with him idle.

That's a 290-point differential in winning percentage.

Breaking it down a little further, that represents a 3.75 swing in run differential per game. With Rollins, the Phillies recorded 3.25 runs more than their opponent, but have scored .50 runs less than their opponent without him.

Rounding The Bases: June 16th

Aubrey Huff is on an incredible tear over the last six days, but there is absolutely no way that this can last.  With his home run on Wednesday, Huff now has four over the last six games, and he has driven in 10 runs over that span.  He has been a reasonabl

Rockies-Twins: Same Old Story for Colorado

This is beyond ridiculous.

The Rockies dropped another one-run game, 2-1 getting dominated by yet another above-average-but-not-an-All-Star pitcher.

This time it was the Twins' Scott Baker who baffled them. Before Baker had pitched the minimum five innings required to pick up the win, he had already tied his career-high for strikeouts with 10.

New York Mets Score Plenty Of Runs for Jonathon Niese in Sixth Straight Win

CLEVELAND- The Mets are going from a team that can stay in the race to a team that may be elite. Now, let's not get carried away; they have won five of their last six against the Orioles and Indians, but who cares? If the Mets weren't winning these games, people would be all over them.

The Mets won their sixth straight game tonight, beating the inept Cleveland Indians, 8-4, and improving to nine games over .500.

Fantasy Baseball By The Numbers: Week 11

They did it! The Blackhawks finally got their Stanley Cup in one of the more bizarre endings you’ll see in a championship game.

My only regret is that they didn’t win it at home. The city was wild enough on a Wednesday during an away game, imagine what clinching on a Friday at home would have been. Oh well, guess we’ll have to wait for the Cubs to win the World Series before we get another Chicago Fire.

Oh yea, and there were some baseball games this week.
