Trying to Understand the Giants' John Bowker, "MLB-Version"

I really, really like John Bowker . I admit that.

The Best Hats in Baseball: Ranking All of the MLB's Caps

Summer is almost here and that means the weather will be getting warmer and most importantly ball parks will be filling up for some baseball and sunshine.

What better way to keep the sun out of your eyes than rocking your favorite teams head gear?

Baseball is a sport with a lot of tradition and these franchises mean a lot to fans everywhere.

Let's take a look at how your franchise's cap ranks in all of MLB.

Oakland Athletics Are Only a Couple of Tweaks Away from the San Francisco Giants

Northern California, like her sunnier Southern counterpart, is prone to drought.

Despite the Hollywood imagery, the Golden State is not a naturally lush paradise with green hills rolling down to meet blue ocean. In reality, most of the State was a desert and eventually will be once again.

Our very nasty, not-so-secret secret is that Cali simply does not get enough water to sustain our current rate of growth.

Rain Delay Lines New York Mets' Johan Santana Up to Start in Philly

Earlier in the day, I wrote about how the rainout could cause the Mets to burn through an already taxed bullpen, but I left out some good news.

The rain delay has caused a change to the starting rotation. Oliver Perez and Johan Santana are now pitching on the same day.

Rot Your Brain: Carlos Zambrano's New Job Has Its Fantasy Perks

Going from the starting rotation to the bullpen is like going from the penthouse to the outhouse if you are a pitcher—especially when you aren’t even getting a chance to be the closer.

The Chicago Cubs' hotheaded workhorse Carlos Zambrano has made the move from the first inning to the seventh and eighth innings, and while his fantasy value will definitely dip in the short term because of the job change, this might not be the Titanic-like disaster some fantasy owners are making it out to be.

Here are two things to consider about Zambrano’s new role.

Yankees' Core Four Gets Sports Illustrated Cover

The “Core Four” of the Yankees, Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada, and Andy Pettitte (as if I needed to tell you) got on the cover of Sports Illustrated and let me be the first to say, that is a sweet ass cover.

That being said, I don’t have much else to say about the cover. Sure it’s cool, but after about 30 seconds I’ve moved on.

Here is what others are saying about the cover:

The Implications Of The Red Sox Signing Of Adelberto Ibarra

Caption: Is Ibarra’s signing a signal that Victor Martinez’ days as the Red Sox backstop are numbered?

We were all thrilled when the Red Sox acquired Victor Martinez last summer. We had witnessed the decline of Jason Varitek’s offense and the various struggles of the never-ever-ready-for-prime-time collection of catching ‘prospects’ the organization has assembled in the minor leagues.

Martinez held promise as the franchise’s answer behind the plate for the foreseeable future. We felt content.

New York Yankee Fans: Do You Remember the Name Austin Jackson?

New York Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman hit the headlines with a "blockbuster" trade in the offseason that brought Curtis Granderson to the Bronx.

The Yankees gave up one-time first round draft pick, starting pitcher, Ian Kennedy; left handed reliever, Phil Coke; and top prospect outfielder, Austin Jackson, to the Detroit Tigers.

Coke is 3-0 in Detroit coming out of their pen.

And if you haven't checked on AJax lately, he's playing pretty well!

Mets Minor Leaguer Angel Calero Tests Positive for PEDs

According to Mike Puma of the NY Post, Mets Minor League left-handed pitcher Angel Calero has been suspended for 50 games after testing positive for performance enhancing drugs.

Calero, 23, has started the season in Single-A St. Lucie after he pitched there all of last season and part of 2008. So his career could be classified as “stalled” right now. Last year he started 22 games, throwing 107.1 innings with a 3-11 record and a 4.61 ERA.

Yesterday's Rain Out and Its Implications on the Mets' Taxed Pitching Staff

So far this season the Mets are getting fewer innings from their starters, 105, than all but four teams in the game; only two teams have thrown more innings than their bullpen, 71.
