With a handful of aces on the board who aren't performing to their ability, daily fantasy baseball players might be better off spending their money elsewhere Saturday.

Over a month into the 2015 season, sample sizes have become large enough for fantasy baseball owners to consider promising early starts.

For some young breakout stars, it's already far too late. Everybody purchased stock on Joc Pederson, Devon Travis and Chris Archer long ago. Brand names such as Alex Rodriguez and Bartolo Colon warranted immediate attention, as both are well-known veterans playing in the Big Apple.

Struggles are always magnified at the beginning of the season and there are a handful of MLB sluggers who have been slow to get out of the gates in 2015.

But not to fear—plenty of those players should return to their usual levels of production as the season progresses.

Some of those stars, like Brian McCann, have a history of slow starts. Others like Ryan Braun and Robinson Cano have impressive batted ball data that proves their numbers will ultimately come around.

David Price left Detroit's game against the Royals on May 8 in the seventh inning after sustaining a hamstring injury. Price suffered the injury slipping on a bat.

Price Optimistic of Making Next Start

Matthew B. Mowery of the Oakland Press reported that Price suffered a mild hamstring strain, and his next start will come sometime early next week. 

The Chicago Cubs have hit a rough patch over the past week or so, but they're still right around the .500 mark. That's better than they've been in the past seven years or so, and it's thanks to several improvements the team has already made in 2015.

While they still have plenty to work on if they want to be playing long into October this year, here are five things the Cubs have already managed to improve in 2015.

Rain delays during baseball games can be boring.

To combat their boredom, the Los Angeles Dodgers challenged the Colorado Rockies to a friendly game of tic-tac-toe during the delay of Friday's game. The Dodgers made the initial move on Twitter:

Last season, the Arizona Diamondbacks finished with the worst record in baseball at 64-98. There were many glaring weaknesses with the team, but it was the 8-22 start that likely buried the D-backs' playoff hopes before the month of May even began.

From Andrew McCutchen to Chris Sale, some of baseball's biggest names have been big-time duds in 2015.

The good news for the Pittsburgh Pirates center fielder and the Chicago White Sox ace is that it's still early—really early. The bad news is that their teams play in two of the most competitive divisions in baseball—the type of divisions where a sideways start could be the kiss of death.

Josh Hamilton's on-field return with the Texas Rangers is inching closer. The 2010 American League MVP has started playing games in extended spring training, with a rehab assignment on the horizon.

As if anyone needed further confirmation that no pitcher is safe from Tommy John surgery in today's MLB, another ace has bitten the dust.

This time, it's Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Alex Cobb. And while that's a shame in and of itself, what makes it an even bigger shame is that his career as an ace was just beginning to take off.
