Those San Francisco Giants fans who were hoping to see Matt Cain take the mound Tuesday against the San Diego Padres will be sorely disappointed. 

The team’s official Twitter page updated supporters on the condition of the former All-Star:

Robinson Cano spent the first nine seasons of his MLB career with the New York Yankees, but on Tuesday, the second baseman made his first trip to Yankee Stadium as a visitor.

The second baseman signed a 10-year, $240 million contract with the Seattle Mariners in the offseason.

Expectations were high coming into the 2014 Major League Baseball regular season for the Pittsburgh Pirates.  After all, the team made it back to the playoffs in 2013 for the first time since 1992. 

Now, although it is hard to believe, it is a fact that the Pirates are currently on pace to lose 100 games in 2014.  That's right, 100 losses.

It turns out Michael Pineda's 10-game suspension might just indirectly keep him sidelined for a little longer. 

The New York Yankees big right-hander, who was suspended last week after using pine tar in a start against the Boston Red Sox, went through a simulated game to stay on throwing schedule Tuesday, but it resulted in a tight lat after just one inning.     

The Washington Nationals' Bryce Harper underwent thumb surgery today and is expected to be out until July. But that didn't stop him from having a great hair day. Just check out his post-surgery tweet: 

The Los Angeles Dodgers have their sights set on reaching the World Series this year thanks to a roster full of experienced veterans and All-Star-caliber talent at nearly every position. Veteran teams with championship aspirations don’t normally rely heavily on minor league talent—the 2013 St. Louis Cardinals notwithstanding—and Los Angeles is no different in that regard.

The first month of the 2014 MLB season is just about to wrap up.

For the Atlanta Braves (17-7), it's the second season in a row they've jumped out to an early-season lead in the division thanks to a hot April. The Braves hold a 3.5-game lead over the New York Mets, which is the same as their lead over the Washington Nationals this time a year ago.

Manny Machado is back.

The Baltimore Orioles are expected to activate the 21-year-old third baseman before the series opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. With Tuesday's game being postponed because of rain, it's expected that Machado will make his season debut on Wednesday.
