Analyzing Joe Girardi's Bullpen Management in Yankees' Loss To Indians

With one out in the top of the seventh inning, the New York Yankees led the Cleveland Indians 10-6. Austin Kearns had just singled in a run against David Robertson, who threw one more pitch before leaving the game with an undisclosed injury.

Summoning Sergio Mitre, Joe Girardi made the proper move. His team led by four runs with eight remaining outs, and Mitre, formerly a starter, could potentially finish the game.

Video of David Huff Hit by a Line-Drive from Alex Rodriguez

Cleveland Indians lefty David Huff was hit in the head by a line drive off the bat of Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez and the ball ricocheted all the way to the right field corner.

David Robertson Leaves Game with Back Injury

Yankees reliever David Robertson left today’s game in the middle of the 7th inning with what they’re calling a mild lower back strain.

This injury is no doubt the result from a line drive that Twins catcher Joe Mauer hit Robertson in the back with last week. Initially Robertson said the Mauer’s line drive didn’t hurt him and that his belt had absorbed most of the impact, but in the middle of today’s game it must have tightened up on him.

Where Does Derek Jeter Rank in the 10 Greatest Yankees of All-Time?

The Yankees have had some of the greatest players in Major League Baseball history. This list ranks the top 10 of those legends who wore the pinstripes very proudly during their stay in the Bronx.

To rank the players I used their individual stats while with the Yankees and their success in the postseason. I also took into consideration military service and career-threatening injuries.

Derek Jeter:Thank You for the Past 15 Years

Derek Sanderson Jeter made his major league debut 15 years ago today, May 29, 1995.

For any fan of the Yankees, and the game of baseball, it has been a great 15 years. We have all gone along for the ride with this great shortstop.

Jeter made his major league debut with the Yankees 15 years ago, when injuries to Tony Fernandez, and Pat Kelly, required the team to call up their young future star.

New York Yankees Notes: Hughes, Cano, Sanit, Posada, Aceves, Duncan

Phil Hughes and Robinson Cano lead the Yankees to a 8-2 victory over the Indians. Here are some notes:

According to Lia Eustachewich of the NY Daily News, Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher has gotten engaged to his girlfriend actress Joanna Garcia.

Here is more from the Daily News:

Earning Your Pinstripes: 20 Ways to Help Make Yankee Fans Not Hate You

The New York Yankees are considered the preppy jerk of Major League Baseball.

They expect to win a championship every year simply because they are the Yankees.

This obviously puts tremendous pressure on the players, especially the high priced free agents the Yankees always pick up.

But if any entering Yankee wants to succeed in the Big Apple, here's really all he has to do.

New York Yankees Next Back Up Plan

I previously wrote a scouting report on Eduardo Nunez, a young shortstop with great batting, speed and occasional power.

Nunez is currently in the New York Yankees Triple A system, the Scranton Wilkes Barre Yankees.

I, myself, and others think that he will one day soon replace Derek Jeter at short when he retires.

But with the injury bug infecting the Yankees, Nunez's number might soon be called up to the big league level.

Why Javier Vasquez's Start Against the Mets Meant Nothing

Javier Vasquez was acquired by the Yankees this offseason.

There were many arguments involving this trade because of the struggles he had as a Yankee back in 2004.

There were two sides.

One said that he can't pitch in the American League, and is not worth the salary he is getting paid.

One said that he was injured when he struggled in 2004, and did above average with the Chicago White Sox.

Looks like the first side wins.
