Rumors Swirl of Mark Teixeira Testing Positive for PED

Yesterday there were rumors flying that Mark Teixeira could be the next big name baseball player to be suspended due to performance enhancing drugs. Major League Baseball then made the announcement that it was not Teixeira, but Edinson Volquez of the Reds, that failed a drug test.

A sigh of relief was taken by the New York Yankees organization and fans.

Notes and Quotes: Javier Vazquez, Joba Chamberlain, Robinson Cano, Nick Swisher

Good evening Bronx Baseball Daily readers. Some of you might have noticed our lack of updates this morning.

Javier Vazquez: Good Enough for First Win

Which New York Yankees Team Was Truly Better: 1998 or 2010?

Hello all! Wow, it has been a while since I've last written, so this may be quite long, because I have a lot to say!

The truth of why I'm writing today is to get my mind off the loss of my dog this morning. She was 10, and she will be deeply missed.

I'm seeking refuge in the New York Yankees, who have gotten off to a great start to the season here in 2010, picking up where they left off back in November. There is something about this team that just jumps out at you. Something that gives me the feeling of invincibility. It is a great feeling.

A Positive in The Bronx: Brett Gardner?

2010 is here, and the Yankees are on a roll!

The Bronx Bombers are 4 series into the season, winning all of them. There have been a lot of positives so far, but I want to focus in on one.

This may be the one that gets fans excited. We've been waiting for him to start swinging the bat, and lo and behold, here he is!

The mystery pinstriper is.......Brett Gardner!

Yankee fans have fallen in love with the speedy outfielder, and have waited patiently for him to start hitting.

Gardy is 10 for 30 with 4 RBI.

And 7 stolen bases.

New York Yankees Stars Andy Pettitte, Jorge Posada Increasing their Hall Chances

If it were up to me, the baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown would be filled with nothing but Yankees, but fortunately for everyone else, the process is mostly fair.

Old Guard Keeps Chugging Along for New York Yankees

Let's start today with a little numbers exercise:

Player A: .333 BA    1 HR    5 RBI    .443 OBP    .471 SLG

Player B: .380 BA    3 HR    9 RBI    .404 OBP    .600 SLG

Player A: 3.57 ERA    0-2 W-L    14 K    1.47 WHIP

Player B: 1.35 ERA    2-0 W-L    14 K    1.20 WHIP

Javier Vazquez Fixes Mechanical Issue after Two Rough Starts

The Yankees have been doing so well lately, but no matter how good they play there is still going to be a small faction of fans who are just never going to be happy. It’s sad in a way, especially when these fans have latched on to Javier Vazquez and are looking for blood.

Old Yankee Stadium Demolition: New Pictures of the Progress in New York

It has been a while since I last put pictures up of the old Yankee Stadium being torn down, so I thought now was as good a time as any. Especially since they have done so much over the past couple of weeks.

I must give a tip of my hat to Sliding Into Home , as Greg has kept his readers much more up to date with these pics and I simply stole these from him.

2010 New York Yankees More Balanced

It’s good to be a Yankee fan right now.  The Yankees have won all four series they’ve played, coming off a convincing sweep of a talented young Rangers team.  Their other series wins were against arguably the two other best teams in baseball in the Red Sox and Rays, and against a perennial contender in the Angels.

The question now is: How long can they keep this up?  Clearly, there will be low points in the year and the road trip they are about to embark on will provide some possible pitfalls right away.
