Boston Red Sox: Doing Some House Keeping

As the 2010 MLB Trading Deadline has come and passed, the Boston Red Sox didn't do too much; they did some minor moves.

Today the Red Sox acquired, long wanted, catching prospect, Jarrod Saltalamacchia from the Texas Rangers and also shipping away relief pitcher Ramon Ramirez to the San Fransisco Giants, while designating outfielder, Jeremy Hermida, for assignment.

Some might sit back and say, "what is Theo Epstein doing?". Well, there wasn't much he could do.

Robinson Cano's Home Run Lifts New York Yankees to 5-4 Win in Tampa

Robinson Cano had another MVP performance again tonight.

His home run in the top of ninth inning gave the New York Yankees a 5-4 victory over the Tamp Bay Rays.  And more importantly, the Yankees will maintain their AL East division lead when leaving St. Petersburg after tomorrow’s game.

MLB Trade Deadline: Rays Come Up Losers on Saturday All Around

The Yankees and the Rays faced each other for the weekend series at St. Petersburg. This series has its significance not only for the standings, but it came down to which team made their moves.

On this Saturday, it was the Yankees that outmanuever the Rays in bolstering the club, and then after the deadline was over, the Yankees beat the Rays on the scoreboard to even the series at one.

Minnesota Twins Are the AL Central Trade Deadline Winners!

The non-waiver trading deadline has passed.

The Texas Rangers made arguably the biggest move in the AL with the acquisition of ace Cliff Lee.

They also added some depth with shortstop Cristian Guzman, infielder Jorge Cantu, and catcher Bengie Molina.

In typical New York fashion, the Yankees have put themselves in a position to repeat as World Series champions with the additions of first baseman Lance Berkman, outfielder Austin Kearns, and pitcher Kerry Wood.

NEW YORK-- For a second straight night, the Mets were burned by a meltdown from a reliever, but this time they won the fight.

Starting on the mound, and delivering for the Mets, was Hisanori Takahashi. With the Mets needing to beat the Diamondbacks, Takahashi stepped up to strike out 10 batters in six innings.

The game didn't get off to a great start with an infield hit by Chris Young on the first pitch, but Takahashi rebounded to strike out two in the first.

NY Yankees Acquire Three Players: Who Will Make Impact?

The New York Yankees acquired three veterans by the July 31st trade deadline. The three players are Austin Kearns, Kerry Wood from the Cleveland Indians, and Lance Berkman from the Houston Astros.

Last year, the Yankees acquired Jerry Hairston Jr., and he was a key to their World Series Championship.

We all know these three new Yankees can play, but will they be able to shine in the city that never sleeps?

L.A. Dodgers Overlook Struggling Power Department at Trade Deadline

Entering another critical intra-division series against the San Francisco Giants over the weekend, the Los Angeles Dodgers find themselves continuing to fade in the standings while their offense remains dormant.

The entire squad is struggling at the dish, especially in terms of power, which is reflected in the team ranking 25th among the 30 teams in Major League Baseball in the homerun department.

Phillies, Not Eagles, Are City's Gold Standard

It’s been six years since Jeffrey Lurie armed the Philadelphia media and fans with one of the most explosive pieces of ammunition possible.

Fresh off four straight NFC Championship berths and a trip to the Super Bowl, Lurie kicked off the 2004 season by declaring that the Eagles were the “gold standard” for NFL franchises.
