How Different Will The Toronto Blue Jays Look After The Trade Deadline?

There have been many rumours swirling about the Blue Jays, suggesting who they might be moving before the July 31st trade deadline.  Names like Scott Downs, Jose Bautista, John Buck, and Kevin Gregg are all being mentioned as possible trade chips.  The rumour mill on ESPN even suggests that they might be buyers.  So what are Jays fans supposed to draw from all of this?

MLB Trade Deadline Countdown: Oliver Perez To The KC Royals?

Basbeall analyst Ken Rosenthal reported Sunday that the New York Mets and the Kansas City Royals are in talks about trading Oliver Perez to Kansas City.

In return, the Mets would get veteran pitcher Gil Meche, who is currently rehabbing after his injury.

This trade would be dead even if it is made, as both are in their last year in their contracts, with each left with $12 million.

Not only is that situation similar, stats wise, too.

Perez and Meche are both 0-4, and their ERAs are hovering around above 6.

The Starting Pitching Market for the New York Yankees

With the recent trade of Dan Haren, the trade market is slowly beginning to diminish. Although Andy Pettitte wants to return now, Joe Girardi is playing the safe card and resting him. He surely doesn’t want to re-injure a pitcher of his caliber.

In order to secure a consistent one through five rotation, the Yankees should acquire a starter.

Detroit Tigers Injuries Could Be Blessing in Disguise

So long Joel Zumaya, Brandon Inge, Carlos Guillen, and Magglio Ordonez.

Hello Ryan Perry, Don Kelly, Scott Sizemore, Danny Worth, Will Rhymes, and Jeff Larish.

The Detroit Tigers are hurting, but the end to the summer of 2010 could set the table for a great run of success for years to come.

Because of this run of injuries, the Tigers will probably not make any significant moves at the trading deadline.  That means prospects like Jacob Turner and Andy Oliver will remain in the organization as opposed to being traded for Dan Haren or Ted Lilly.

Los Angeles Angels Plan for 2011 in Acquiring Dan Haren

With a week to go before the trading deadline, the Angels have acquired Dan Haren of the Arizona Diamondbacks, who has been a big name on the trading circuit. The Angels gave up three players to get Haren: pitchers Joe Saunders, Patrick Corbin, Rafael Rodriguez, and a player to be named later.

Minnesota Twins: What Would You Do?

With inconsistency taking a death-grip over Minnesota's starting rotation this year, the Twins are rumored to have been interested in just about every pitcher on the market. Unquestionably, Dan Haren and Roy Oswalt are the two most coveted trade targets this season, and the Twins would no doubt love to bring in some pitching help.

Rumors are one thing; feasibility is a whole different animal.

New York Mets Need to Fire Someone Immediately After Road Trip From Hell

The Mets cannot continue to play this kind of baseball without someone being held responsible.

The Mets lost another 1-0 game today to fall to 2-9 on their horrific road trip. It should have been even worse. It could have been 1-10 or 1-9-1 with the tie going to home plate umpire Phil Cuzzi in that bizarre game in San Francisco.

The offense has fallen into a coma, being shutout for the fourth time on this road trip. The Mets have scored more than three runs in a game just three times in their last 16 games.

Mets End West Coast Trip Like It Started: Scoreless Innings Streak

LOS ANGELES—For the fourth time on the 11-game West Coast trip—that the Mets ended 2-9 today—the Mets got shut out. For the third time on the trip, the Mets enter a prolonged scoreless innings streak.

After starting the trip scoreless over 24 innings, the Mets end the trip going 16 innings without scoring a run.

They had R.A. Dickey on the mound, and he did all he could do to keep the Mets in the game. Just like in his previous two starts, and like with any other Mets pitcher, no run support was given.

Fantasy Baseball Fallout: Dan Haren Traded To Angels

The Los Angels Angels made a huge splash, answering the Texas Rangers acquisition of Cliff Lee by trading Joe Saunders, Patrick Corbin, Rafael Rodriguez, and a player to be named later to the Arizona Diamondbacks in return for Dan Haren, according to Andrew Baggarly of the Mercury News via Twitter.

Breaking News: Dan Haren Traded to Los Angeles Angels For Joe Saunders

Entering Sunday, the Los Angeles Angels were six games back of the Texas Rangers in the American League West.

The Angels currently have the worst pitching in the division and are ranked 11th in the AL in ERA.

Sunday the Angels decided to do something about that.

Dan Haren was acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks for Joe Saunders, minor league pitching prospects left hander Patrick Corbin, right hander Rafael Rodriguez, neither of which are top Angels prospects, and a player to be named later, which one would imagine will be a higher prospect.
